billet-doux episode: 08
thereupon, finishing wrapping her wrist up neatly, he wasn't fazed to injuries. considering the fact that he once served as an 'assassin' as some might dub it.
"do you want to eat?" he asked, getting silence as a response. with her head tilting, indicating a nod.
megumi was sat next to y/n, looking down as she reached her hand to hold his. lifting his head as she was met with his tears, still feeling guilty she surmised. caressing his cheeks as her arms felt weak, groaning at the slight irritation it induced. toji, who was already making her meal looked at the two, how they bonded and interacted.
'she's a good mother' he thought before brushing it off and focusing on making her a meal.
fits of laughter echoed throughout the walls as he looked up to them, seeing y/n's usual glistening eyes which seemed to be full of energy, and her smile.
toji had never looked at y/n properly before, never having the chance to admire her. maybe he should've paid more attention to her.
finalizing the dish as he set a plate on the table, placing utensils as well as the dish across from it.
"come eat" he loudly said, enough for her to hear as she stood up and held megumi's hand, helping him stand up as they made their way to the dining table.
hopping on the chair, as megumi does the same. serving her food as she looked at the large portion, a doubting expression painted on her face.
"you need to eat, you starved yourself for almost a week" he started as she nods, picking her spoon up as her hands shook. struggling to scoop it as toji sigh silently.
pulling a chair and setting it next to her, toji scooped some of the rice and a little bit of chicken with it and brought it up to y/n's lips.
biting down on it as toji went for another scoop, filling the spoon with chicken this time. blowing on it gently as y/n ate it quickly, uneasy at how close their faces were.
setting the dishes on the sink as megumi guided y/n to the couch, entertaining themselves as toji brought upon himself to clean y/n's room. making his way to the room as he started picking up the stuff that was scattered on the floor, it looked like they were thrown from their original places.
grabbing a basket and stuffing it with the blood-covered sheets, walking to the laundry room and shoving the sheets inside the laundry machine, and grabbing the broom. sweeping thoroughly through every crevice or crack of the room as he kneeled, sweeping down the bed as he noticed two large boxes.
pulling both of them out of their places as he looked at them.
'BRIDAL BOUTIQUE'
opening them up as a white wedding dress was inside, sparked a memory inside toji's head but he failed to remember what it was, or why y/n has it. opening the second box as it was filled with small portraits as well as handwritten love letters.
judging from the dates written on the envelopes, he remembers them.
"t..toji" a weak voice called out, making him turn around.
observing y/n as toji noticed letters in her hand.
"since you were going on a business trip again, I figured to give you these. I was planning on giving you to them at our wedding but, you left" she softly stated, smiling at her effort as toji held no expression.
"look, I don't have time for this okay? I have to go, just take care of megumi" he told grimly, turning away leaving y/n.
"o-oh okay, sorry for disturbing you" she stammered as toji slammed the door shut.
he banged his fist against the box as guilt ate him up, clenching his jaw as he mentally slapped himself. deciding to open the letter up instead to at least make up for what he did to her.
to my dearly beloved,
I waited for this day and here we are, though we might be distant I am willing to wait for you, even if suffering is the only way to get to you, then so be it.
blessing me with a son, providing me a home I am truly lucky to be yours. and hopefully you as mine, no words can show how much I want to cherish you, along with our son.
even in another life, I would always choose you. devoting myself to you and you alone.
from your loving wife, Fushiguro y/n
opening another one as he was quickly hooked on to her letters, reading them by date as he felt profound comfort from them. his heart beating faster every time, forgetting what even was his purpose being here was anymore.
the last letter was kept in a black envelope, it had tears within the corners of it. gently opening it up as he started to read it.
the text was a smudge with random stains on them, the handwriting was messy but still eligible enough for him to read.
this is it, after months of unrequited love. it hurts, he never spares me a glance, not a smile.
not once did he look at me with warm eyes, even if he did. he would always have them, looking at his ex-wife's photos.
in contrast to me wanting a child, I am delighted that I won't have to bear his. it was always her in the first place,
her.
the mocks of the neighbors are slowly creeping up at me. they won't leave me alone. no one wants to help me, toji won't listen to me.
