The year was 1969. It was a first for humankind. The first manned flight to the single moon of the planet Earth. Third from its sun the planet had already acquired quite a reputation for itself. How the humans watched as the broadcast went worldwide (viral shall we say?) as Neil Armstrong uttered his famous words. An surprising accomplishment for a civilization such as Earth.
The year was 1854. Commodore Perry makes his way towards the island nation of Japan. Issued by his American president the means and the intent to form a treaty with Japan. Were he to accomplish such a feat, it would lead to a series of events that gradually over time, would lead to a mass extermination of the Japanese people. Perry, expecting him and his forces to pressure a partnership with the nation, they are to instead be greeted in a, shall we say less welcoming fashion.
The year is 1525. A ship travels along the Atlantic Ocean. It's "cargo", as the slavers will regret to have called them by, are actually live human beings. Transported for the sole purpose of being sold into bondage and forced to do labor for their future arrogant so called "masters". Despite vastly outnumbering their fellow human slavers, these proud indigenous people are overpowered and taken captive away from their homes and families. Such cruelty is made possible because of a mistaken belief of the western European man in their superiority over indigenous people. Such unfounded beliefs of superiority are set to be tested, and then be shattered, like so many splinters of broken bone. An apt introduction for the revolution to follow.
The year is 1492 and Columbus is about to sail to his doom. The explorer would otherwise have been celebrated as a discoverer of what arrogance would have led to call the "New World". Despite having been in existence for many millennia and having already been populated for centuries. Westerners flood out to sea drunk and hungry for power. Finding untouched virgin territory unclaimed by any of their coalition of greedy nations and believing themselves suited dominion on such a place. Would lead to a history of genocide. Columbus will never return to his arrogant leaders.
1969. The space tourists from Earth upon arriving at their destination are not alone. The Earth is in possession of a valuable commodity. So, it has not gone unnoticed by the rest of the galaxy. Humanity is remarkable in what they have achieved in a relatively short amount of time. Even if these achievements were not unaided. You see it's not without reason that Earth is such a convenient place to live. It is considered an oasis of the galaxy. Where planets send technology and people of their own civilizations. With vastly different goals from each other, the multitude of the intergalactic community compete for the resources, welfare, population, or other things to be had from Earth.
Earlier than humanity cares or is able to remember. And the name humanity was not their original title. But before recorded history, what came to be known as humanity was actually a settlement of beings who wielded vastly superior technology. The kind of technology that to the uninitiated can seem to resemble sorcery. In that machines that control gravity, manipulate mountains, move oceans, create an atmosphere out of toxic gas, in order to create a habitable environment for living. It was these beings that first terraformed and populated the planet that would come to be known as Earth.
