Avery hobbled into the hospital as fast as his knobbly, little legs could carry him, a heavy weight weighing unbearably upon him.

"I need to see him" he demanded to the receptionist, banging his fist on the front desk.

"Who?" She asked, a mocking smile curling her lips as she clicked away at her keyboard.

"Him!" Avery repeated, his eyes darting around the consultant rooms frantically. He pointed at one. "Him!"

The receptionist squinted at the placard just as it swung open and a young, dark-haired doctor walked out, beaming.

"Him?" The receptionist asked. Avery nodded vigorously. "Dr Nickel," the doctor looked towards her and instantly, his smile dropped, instead a vigorously concerned expression took over his face. "Are you alright? Did something happen, sir?" He didn't wait for an answer "I'm sure I can give you a quick check-up. Just come in a minute" He looked to the receptionist, a toothless, lipless smile back on his face  "I hope that it's alright with you"

"Oh, doctor, you're an angel. Of course, it's alright." the woman cooed before raising her eyebrows "You do realise you're missing your lunch break, right?"

Dr Nickel waved the problem away, the smile never leaving his face as he steered Mr Smith into his consultant room and straight into the patient's chair.

The moment the door was closed, Mr Nickel turned to face Avery. "Now, what can I do for you?"

"I've been having these visions," Avery said, eyes scanning the whitewashed room.

"Visions?"

"Hallucinations" Avery corrected.

"So you know that they're not true?" Dr Nickel asked as he glid to the computer at his desk and began to type away at the keyboard.

Click, click, click

"They're not?" Avery asked, staring at the doctor curiously.

Mr Nickel stared at Avery, smiling serenely. "Only you would know that, sir"

"Well, they're frightening me," Avery admitted, blinking rapidly. "A lot"

The doctor nodded, his eyes not leaving the screen of his computer "Could you tell me what they're about?"

Click, click, click...

"There's a girl in them, doctor," Avery explained "The girl is my niece. She's screaming at me, telling me to help her and help her quick" Avery gulps and his voice quickens in urgency "She's crying, doctor and then her face turns into this man's face"

"What does he look like?" Nickel asked, his typing becoming more harried.

Avery hesitates. "Blue eyes and skin as white as paper. No- I think he's dark-skinned but- no his skin is like metal I think- actually, no- I think-"

"It's alright" Nickel placed an arm on Avery's shoulder and stared into his eyes. "Take your time"

Avery furrowed his eyebrows, training his eye onto a small speck of dust on the table and licking his dry lips. "I think he has...a rusty blonde hair but his eye colour. It keeps changing."

Nickel cursed under his breath, muttering "fine-tune...images..." He then looked confused "Are you sure that his eye colour was changing?"

"Absolutely," Avery nodded surely.

Nickel hummed pensively, getting up and making to leave the room.

"Where are you going, doctor?" Avery asked, getting up from his seat and advancing upon the doctor.
