We were given our schedule for today, it consists mainly of assessments and trainings.
"Okay first up, we will be locking you guys in a room—"
I blanked out after hearing that line. That is our first assessment, Theo is helping Clarissa to assess us. All this reports will be sent to Elise at the end of the day.
But I cannot do this assessment.
"Chelsea." Theo says out loud.
Everyone is looking at me, concerned and some confused.
"Erm, Chelsea is not a big fan of the dark." Blake says, "maybe I can go first." Blake volunteers himself.
Theo nods his head, "sure."
I watch Blake walk into the room, he turns to face us and he smiles at me. Clarissa closes the door and locks it.
We look up at the television where it shows Blake in the room. "Okay Blake, here's a test for you, you have 5 minutes to breakout before the rooms fills up with water."
I grab Maria's arm and held onto her tightly as I watch Blake tries to break the locks on the door. It seemed impossible.
Blake is doing everything he can to get out but he do not have much time left.
The room was slowly filling up with water till we couldn't see Blake in the screen anymore.
Clarissa opens the door, letting the water gush out towards us. Blake flops onto the ground, panting.
"Chelsea?" Clarissa looks at me.
"It will be a fast one." Jace whispers.
I walk into the room, "sit on the chair." Clarissa instructed.
I did what was told and watched the door closed in slow motion. The room was pitch dark.
There is no sound and I can't see anything in front of me.
"H-hello?" I barely said.
I waited awhile but there was no instructions given.
"Is this a joke?" I asked.
I kept my eyes shut and had my hands clenched tightly together.
"Reflect on yourself, Chelsea Collins."
"Jace, please! I hear Mama's voices, please let me out!" I cried out for my brother.
The door swings open, "Chelsea!" Jake runs in to get me out of the room.
Jake held me closely to him, "you're okay, I will bring you up to your room."
"Can I come in?" Theo knocks on my door.
He opens it a little to find me laying my bed.
I sat up on my bed and put a pillow on my lap. Theo closes the door behind him, "are you okay?" He ask in a soft tone.
I brush my hair back with my fingers, "can you tell me what happened?" I ask.
Theo nods his head, "you opened the door yourself, Chelsea... And judging from the screen, you couldn't hear us because you were so terrified... All you heard was your mother's voice."
I look at him in his light blue eyes, "it's okay." He assures me and reaches out for my hand. He held my hand in his warm ones and gave it a little squeeze, "your family went through a lot." He uses his index finger to push some hair back and hook it behind my ear.
"It takes time." He whispers.
I nod my head in agreement and then, we were silent for awhile.
"Dinner is ready, and it is without Elise so go and be with your family." Theo says, letting go of my hand.
It is weird, that feeling in my stomach. It almost feel like I am nervous or something.
I got out of bed and walk out of my room with Theo following behind, "oh I didn't know you had company." Kai says the moment I open the door.
"Just checking up on her," Theo says, walking past Kai and straight into his room.
"C'mon, you didn't eat lunch." Kai walks towards to the elevator, I look back at Theo's close door and then look at Kai, "what are you doing up here?" I ask.
Kai shrugs, "I heard about the assessment today." He murmurs, "we had a different assessment today."
"Yeah? What was it?" I ask as we head down to the dining floor.
Kai scrunches his face, "we had to go into the simulation where we were locked up in a basement and you only have 3 minutes to try to get the handcuffs off your hands and run out before you die."
Kai shakes his head, "it felt so real."
"Chelsea!" Lea jumps at the sight of me, "hey Lea." I smiled at her.
"You okay?" I asked.
Lea shrugs, "the assessments are a tad weird but everything is fine." She says as we walked to the dining table.
"We having dinner buffet style today!" She exclaims.
"You okay?" Noah comes up to me, putting his arm around my shoulder and pulling me into a quick hug. I pat his back and pull away, "I am alright."
"She's been spending time with Mr Theo." Kai says to Noah. Noah looks at me with a look, "that's surprising, Chelsea."
I shake my head at the both of them, "what's the big deal?" I walk towards the table to get food.
"Whatever." Kai murmurs as if he got something else to say. "I need to talk to you," Kayla comes up to me, grabbing my elbow with her icy cold hand.
"Damn, I trying to get food." I complained as I walk with her to the bathroom.
"I think I am pregnant." Kayla says looking down at the sink.
"Hm?" I look down at what she is looking at and see the pregnancy test sitting on a sink.
It has two lines on it but it's faint.
"Kayla," I look up at her and look down at the test. "Congratulations!" I exclaimed.
Kayla puts her hand over my mouth, "you're the only one who knows."
I nod my head, acknowledging her statement.
"You crazy hormonal woman, you didn't even told Shane?" I said the moment she took her hand off my mouth.
Shane and Kayla have been together for 5 years now but they have been in love with each other since they were kids.
"Sorry but I am freaking out!" Kayla whisper yells at me.
"He will be okay with it, you know how Shane is, he will be elated." I assured her with a smile.
"And I am going to be an Aunt!" I gave her a tight hug, "you should go to the medical floor to get your belly checked out." I then say, looking at her with concern.
"Is your baby hungry? Because I am." I stated. Kayla laughs, "you really think it will be okay? Y'know since we are new in The ARC." Kayla raises a point.
Right...
"Why not we just keep it between the family for now, yeah?" I wrap my arm around her waist.
