Edward POV

Lilly and I got in the car to go to a pharmacy for Carlisle. He needed a restock on medical supplies. I decided to read Lilly's mind.

God this is awkward. I don't know what to say. God I miss him. Why'd I even do that? Oh right because-

Mind block. She must've known I was reading her mind. I decided to play dumb. "Miss who?" Her grip on the steering wheel firmed. "Nobody. Just an old friend. He's uh- not here anymore." She said, eyes watering. How badly I wanted to tell her that I missed her too. How badly I wanted to make her laugh, see her smile, kiss her, I lost everything and I still don't know why. I had put up an unbreakable mind block since I didn't want her to know I had regained my memory. We arrived at the pharmacy and stepped out of the car. I followed her around the store as she picked up the different supplies. "So what happened to that friend you talked about?" "Well I um renounced him and now he's gone forever." She said looking down. "Why'd you renounce him? You obviously care about him." She stood there deep in thought for a few moments. I waited patiently for her answer. "Let's just say it's...complicated." She said tearing up. I decided that now instead of getting answers, I'd try to be her friend. I hugged her tightly as she quietly sobbed into my chest. It always broke my heart when she was sad and I hated seeing her like this all the time. I just have to keep reminding myself that she renounced me for a reason and that I have to respect her. Before I was sure we were made for each other but for some reason something always gets in the way of us living a happy life together. I shook my head at the thought. I'd do anything for her I love her too much to even let that thought cross my mind. After a few minutes she let go and we continued to look for medical supplies. I stared down at her as we walked. I devised a plan. I put memories in her head like when she starved herself, jumped off the cliff, and even when she renounced me. I hated seeing her sad but I had to win her back. After I put the memories in her head she froze. I must've had a guilty look on my face because she looked up shocked. She grabbed my hand and pulled me out of the store. When we got to the car she opened the door for me and practically shoved me in. Uh oh I was in trouble. She got in the car and turned to me. "Edward, I know you did that. How did you remember?!" "I don't know what you're talking about Lilly." "You're mind block was removed genius. Now what's going on?" "I could ask you the same question. Why'd you do it?" I asked with tears in my eyes. "I can't tell you." "I thought you loved me." I said quietly. She grabbed my face in her hands. "You think I wanted to do it?" I stayed frozen. "Edward of course I love you!" She said before smashing her lips to mine. I kissed her harder. I think she could tell I was longing this. After a while she pulled away. "Why can't you tell me Lilly?" I said taking her hands. "I signed a contract. I'm not allowed to be with you." My heart shattered. "Who made you sign that?"

"Harper did."
