-------------------------------------

Komaru strolled through the streets of derelict buildings, keeping an eye out for movement, checking under every pile of rubble, and making sure to listen in case she heard anything. Usually Toko would search the south and west ends of the city but Komaru thought it would be far more effective if they switched, after all, they might find new places to check that they might have otherwise missed.

The girl swung her megaphone around, seemingly bored until she heard a shuffle, it was faint but most definitely there.

"Hello? is anyone here? are you alright?" she called out into the general direction from which the sound came.

No response, except...a metallic rattling sound began to echo throughout a dilapidated warehouse a few metres away from her, growing louder with each second that passed.
Komaru, slightly panicked, raised her megaphone weapon and pointed it towards the inside of the dark  building her other hand reaching into her pocket to page Toko.

She jumped as a beast monokuma flew out from the shadows of the warehouse, it's claws set to attack. It lunged towards her, knocking the megaphone out of her hand.

A wave of fear pulsed through the brunette, she had no weapon; no way of defending herself and she mentally scolded herself for it. So she began to run, though it all seemed so foreign to her, where was she meant to go?? Every street looked the same: old, ruined, dark and covered in layers of ash and rubble. she didn't know her way around this part of the city well enough.

Komaru ran, praying to whoever was out there that the monokuma would soon loose track of her, she took lots of turns before finally ducking into a dark alleyway, it seemed she was safe, for now.

Trying her hardest not to pant or make any noise that may alert the beast to where she was, komaru leaned against the cold, mossy wall of the alleyway and composed herself.

A moment passed, and she could still hear the quiet whirring of the monokuma, she stood, not moving; breathing as quietly as she could. until...

BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP

Komaru's eyes widened as her cell phone went off, and immediately she began to run, sliding the answer button as the beast followed, it's metallic feet making loud thud noises with every step it took.

"Toko!!!! Help! quick !" she managed to shout into the speaker, taking a a swift turn into what used to be a supermarket before the tragedy. Komaru backed up into a corner, picking up a long plank of wood and aiming it towards the beast, her hands shaking lightly in fear.

Toko paused before speaking "try to stay where you are i-"

A sudden scream erupted from Komaru's mouth as the monokuma pounced at her, it's claws making contact with the side of her face, maroon blood dripping onto the ashy floor.

"wha-whats happening?? I'm nearly there, hold on!!" Toko exclaimed, her voice laced with concern and her breath heavy from running.

no answer. Komaru lay hunched on the floor and the phone had slid out of reach.
She whimpered quietly as the beast lunged at her once again, sinking it's long claws into her side, splattering the floor with even more dark, sweet smelling blood.

Toko had finally arrived, and before she could stop and think, she attacked the monokuma, stunning it in it's weak point, over and over again until it eventually collapsed with a loud clank.

The next moments were mostly a blur, Komaru's body was in agonising pain and she felt herself being dragged against refreshingly cold concrete by Toko, who was muttering in a panicked voice the whole way, her breath heavy from trying to carry her wounded friend.

"please be okay..I can't lose you, komaru. I- I can't...."

After what seemed like years, they arrived at the medical ward of their apartment building, and Toko began to do what she could, applying pressure to the puncture wounds on the girls side, and giving her anaesthetic as she waited for the future foundation's emergency services to arrive, along with Makoto.

It was a difficult process, and eventually Toko found herself standing on the roof of their home, watching worriedly as an ambulance helicopter took off, with both Komaru and her brother inside.

Toko prayed that she would be alright, after all, the writer felt a little more than friendliness towards Komaru, and she never got to let her know.

And so she waited...
