School is boring

It's so overrated.

I spend most of my first period daydreaming. Zoning back in every now and then to copy down some notes that are ongoing about today's lecture but besides that I'm out in my fantasy world.

Today, I'm out on a mountain, standing with my back to the wind. The breeze is strong and my hair is blowing every which way, I have to tuck it behind my ear to keep it out of my face. It's foggy and a bit chilly but as usual I'm in my favorite black hoodie.

The waves crashing into rocks down below can be heard from where I'm standing and seagulls fly overhead making that squawking sound that they usually do.

Things feel nice, even if it may not be the most peaceful place, I feel calm.

Well, things feel calm until of course another figure appears.

I'm not usually sure who each person that stars in my daydreams are, but they keep me company and that's all that matters.

Today is a boy my size. He walks up to me and as he gets closer I see that we look pretty similar. His hair is parted down the middle, brown, with a few strands blocking his eyes. When it blows, I'm able to see that his eyes are also blue. He has freckles, faint ones but still, similar to mine and when he turns his head I see a mole on his cheek. He's not my type dating wise so I'm not exactly sure why I thought of bringing him here.

He eventually gets close to me, looking away for a moment. He turns to me after he's studied the landscape with a faint smile, his arms crossing his chest as the wind picks up. I guess it is pretty cold when you're not wearing a sweatshirt, and he was only in a button up, similar to what Emerson would wear.

"Beautiful view isn't it..?" he asks after a bit of silence and I look around again.

"Yeah..It really is.." I said politely back to him, running my eyes over him again as if I'm trying to figure out what part of my brain he came from.

He started walking closer to the edge of the mountain, looking down as if he was trying to figure out how far the fall was and if the water would catch us.

"Wanna jump?" He offered with a smile, gesturing toward the water below. I tilted my head, he had to be crazy. I waited before slowly walking towards the edge where he was. I looked down, the fall terrified me, but I didn't want to tell him that, admitting my feelings is something I never do, and I don't want to start doing it with some random imaginary kid. I kept my face blank while I was thinking.

If we jumped there was a small chance we'd hit the water, and even if we hit the water, what are the chances that it isn't shallow? On top of that, it's probably freezing cold and I definitely didn't have a spare change of clothes with me.

"Hey Dakota." the boy called out, snapping me out of my thoughts. I looked over at him and he laughed quietly, I guess he could tell I was really thinking about it. "I'm not real dude.." he reached over and nudged me lightly, a smile on his face as I blinked at him.

"Oh yeah.." I said after a moment, reaching up to rub my neck as I look forward out at the water again. I always end up forgetting that I'm just inside my mind.

"So let's jump.." he stood next to me, reaching out with his hand to put it in mine. "Ready Kota?" he smiled, his hair blowing in the wind as he waited for my approval. I stayed still, feeling indecisive.

"Kota..?" he repeated. I guess even imaginary people get impatient.

"Kota!" he shouted and suddenly I was sitting back in the classroom again, with a bunch of eyes on me.

"Uh.." I swallowed, able to feel my face heating up. I ran my eyes over the class before they landed on the teacher who was glaring at me.

"Dakota, did you catch any of that..?" I felt my heart racing, I hated being the center of attention and right now I felt like a bullseye. I quickly nodded and faked a smile,

"Yes sir I did!" I said cheerfully as I jotted down the last bit of notes on the board. Thankfully the bell rang a short bit after. I stuffed my things in my bag and left that room as quickly as I could.

After a few more class periods, it was finally my lunch shift. I somehow got lucky enough to have the same one as Em and his friends so I never found myself eating alone in the bathroom, they always saved a seat for me.

I walked into the cafeteria, spotting them all in the table near the back, including Brynn. I walked over and sat down in the open red chair, smiling as Emerson looked over at me.

"How was class?" he asked as he took a bite of the sandwich he was eating and I just shrugged, looking over at Avery and Zed who had managed to get into an argument about who was going to drive to Jack's Friday while Brynn's eyes were glued to her phone,

"Zoned out as usual.." I said to him before taking the sandwich out of his hands and taking a bite. It was normal for us to steal each other's food. Em laughed and rubbed my head,

"Figured.." he said with another chuckle, taking his sandwich back before cutting into the argument happening at the table, "I'll drive guys.." he said with a bright smile, causing Brynn to finally look up, a smirk on her face.

"Perfect! Make sure to pick me up first Emmy!" she clapped a bit while the others laughed, causing me to smile, it was so funny how head over heels she was for Emerson yet he didn't seem to play into it.

Maybe I was looking forward to Friday.
