ON THE 12TH HOUR OF the first day of October 1989, 43 women around the world gave birth. This was unusual because none of them were pregnant at the start of the day. Sir Reginald Hargreeves, an eccentric billionaire was interested in adopting as many of the super-powered children as possible. He got seven of them.
Esme Doucouré was one of the children born on that special day, her parents Mariame and Konan Doucouré were actively trying to have a baby but they were struggling and once Esme was born, they saw her as a gift. Esme was one of the 36 babies who was not adopted by Sir Reginald Hargreeves.
3 years after her birth, her powers manifested through a temper tantrum that terrified the life out of her parents, and from that day on, her powers would appear through her anger. At one point, her mother Mariame thought about giving her up because she felt like she was a terrible mother because she couldn't help her daughter. While she was unsure about this decision, Konan, her husband convinced her that she was not a terrible mom after all and that they could help her control her powers, and in the end, she agreed to keep Esme.
Throughout the years, the couple found themselves training Esme to control her powers from her blasting a football goal to blasting her dad's garage. Including all the training, they applied her to martial arts and hand-to-hand combat classes since they wanted her to be able to defend herself when necessary.
After high school, Esme went to college to study film production. After three years, she graduated and became a film director, throughout the early years of her job, she met Allison Hargreeves when she was filming for a movie that Esme was directing. Because of the great plot and the Hargreeves actress playing the lead role, the movie and Esme got major praise. For the duration of the production of the movie, Allison and Esme became friends. It wasn't long until Allison figured it out that she was just like her and they got closer from being friends to consider each other as best friends.
But one day, Allison invites her to her father's funeral, she accepts her invitation. As soon as she steps into the Academy, she locks eyes with a leather vigilante known as Number Two.
