I had just been brought to the Ali family home from the parlour, where the mehendi was being held. I was surrounded by our whole khaandan.
*Khaandan: family, referring to everyone including extended family.
Currently, I was in the living room with Iman, Noor and Amara and other girls from distant relatives and neighbours.
Papa and the Uncles were still looking at last minute arrangements, whereas Mama and the Aunts were fixing up the mehendi baskets.
