I watched in astonishment as Artemis dealt with the rogue.

"She's good," Lewis commented from beside me. He, like all of us, was watching her interaction with the rogue with interest. The members of the Nightshade pack were very tense as they watched their Zeta.

"Yes she is," I said in admiration. I felt Aiden shoot me a glare from the corner of my eye. What's his issue? He was clearly growing frustrated with the interaction. I think I spotted a brief moment of eye contact between him and Artemis. She looked absolutely terrified and he looked smug. Something was off between those two.

Artemis exchanged words with the rogue, and then the rogue went off into the woods. She let him go?

"She let him go?" Lewis voiced my thoughts.

"He's a son of Hades," Beta Mallory explained in a tight voice. From what I could see, the only high ranking individuals who were alright with a female being Zeta was Alpha Clark and Theta Adam. Everyone else was very on edge, and clearly uncomfortable with her being out there. She was clearly good at her job, so sexism was a very clear reason for their distrust.

"Your Zeta knows a direct descendant of Hades?" Ruby asked in astonishment. It was a surprise, usually direct descendants of gods ran other packs, as they were minor gods, but I am guessing that this rogue is half-god, half-human, or a demigod. Demigods usually had some powers from their parents, but they weren't immortal. Werewolves aged a lot slower than humans, but we would eventually die. Demigods usually did the dirty work for their parents. The question is, what does Hades want with Artemis?

"Yes, she has a certain history with him." Alpha Clark replied. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed Aiden scowl at his words.

"I thought she stabbed him, how is he running?" Braxton asked. He was also looking at Artemis like she was committing a crime. I felt strangely protective of her for some reason, and all the judgemental looks she was getting were grating on my nerves.

"She hit him in a very strategic spot," Ruby explained to Braxton, who didn't appear to be paying attention to her words, more attention was being paid to her chest. Don't kill him. Don't kill him. Artemis and David seemed to be having a very passionate conversation as they finally reached us. I was too busy listening to Ruby so I couldn't hear what they were talking about. David came to a stop next to me and Lewis, while Artemis went to stand next to Aiden. "It was enough to get him to stop the attack, but not enough to mortally wound him." Aiden wrapped an arm around Artemis' waist and pulled her close. Were they an item? This made me upset and I had no idea why. She cringed slightly before forcing a smile onto her face. Her vanilla and orange scent had a tinge of fear to it now. Her eyes never left David's and looking at my good friend, he seemed unusually emotional.
