After walking through the woods and flinching at every branch crunch, we finally reached the garage. The garage was on the outskirts of the pack grounds, as we didn't have use of cars or other vehicles unless we were leaving the pack.
I released a breath I hadn't realised I was holding as we walked into the garage and I saw Binna, Orion and Adam all waiting by the black BMW that Ryder and his pack had arrived in.
I went to run towards Binna, but was held back by Ryder who squeezed my hand tighter. I gave him a look over my shoulder, to which he just shrugged. I was shocked to realise that I wasn't freaking out to Ryder's touch, but maybe that's because I initiated it, and as of right now, he hadn't initiated any contact with me without my consent first.
"What? Is there something wrong with me wanting to hold hands with my mate?" He asked so innocently, a boyish smile on his face.
"I didn't say anything," I protested with a roll of my eyes. Dani had always warned me about my eyes getting stuck in that position.
"You haven't exactly got the best poker face, Artemis," His British twang in full effect as I felt him smile down at me. I shook my head as I tried not to show how affected I was by him calling me by my name. I would never admit how much I liked the way my name sounded coming from his mouth.
Binna grinned at me as she eyed our intertwined hands. Ryder and I came to a halt in front of our friends.
"Took you guys long enough," Lewis sighed, breaking the awkward silence.
"We got sidetracked," Ryder said as he let go of my hand and shrugged off my bag. He handed it to me. I took it off him with a smile of thanks, and opened it, making sure that everything important was in it. I rummaged through it looking for something. Please tell me she packed them. Please tell me she packed them.
Yes!
I smiled as I pulled out two sets of keys, my eyes locking on Orion's. He grinned back, as Adam looked between us and started shaking his head.
"No, no, no, we are not doing that again." I chuckled as I threw one pair of keys at Orion.
"Doing what?" Ryder questioned, his voice bright with curiosity. Lewis and Ruby exchanged amused looks as they leant against the car.
"Well, last time I checked there were nine of us and only five can fit in the car," I said with a small smile. "So we're going to have to use these." I walked over to two black motorcycles. Adam shook his head and murmured prayers.
"These two maniacs like driving those death machines around for fun. One time, they convinced me to ride on the back of one, and I swear I almost died." Orion and I exchanged a roll of the eyes as we listened to Adam dramatise the whole thing.
"It's really fun and not as conspicuous as a giant werewolf," I didn't shift a lot around other wolves anyways. My wolf was much like my eyes, different. I didn't like drawing more attention in this pack than I had to. "We'll need someone riding with me and someone riding with Orion. Who's going to pair up with me?"
