SCIAMACHY
"I thought you could win, that's why I had you race, Ya know?"
Shinsuke looked at you, a fry being tossed into his mouth as he watched you struggle with your sandwich. You rolled your eyes at his teasing little snicker and took a bite of your food.
"You just wanted to watch me suffer under pressure. You've always been evil in your own way." You pouted now, watching him shake his head and lean back with another fry in hand.
You had lost, but not as bad as you expected, Shinsuke being there helped you, especially when he offered you pointers on what to do. You ended up in fifth place out of a total of seven cars, so it wasn't that big of a chop to your ego. You didn't expect to even get that close.
Afterwards, your cousins stood there with stupid grins on their faces and offered hugs along with small words of encouragement. Suna also gave a side hug with his head resting on yours as you all stood there. Blaming it on the new car and you not being attached to it yet.
"You really didn't do bad. Plus, it was your first race, you only get better in time." Shinsuke had said, smiling.
After this, he followed you to your apartment to drop your car off and take you out for a 'celebratory' meal for not being last. You both now sat in an abandoned parking lot that overlooked the beach with your fast food. Relaxing in each other's presence.
It had been a while since you and Shinsuke were alone together, over a month... Maybe two? Your thoughts went back to earlier in the day, your face instantly heating up when you remembered the tingling feeling from his lips on your neck that left you standing frozen in place, or during the race when he grabbed your hand and leaned over to guide you, his cologne unknowingly making you lean into him, his mouth right near your ear as he spoke in soft, controlled tones. He was hot and cold, and you were no better.
"Hey, you okay? You're Kind of red." Shinsuke looked at you, reaching over to cup the nape of your neck, his thumb rubbing a soft circle just above the Hickey, making you more aware of it, adding a light pressure as he leaned over to check your face.
The thought made you choke on the little bit of food still in your mouth. you placed your hand on the dashboard and you faced away from him as you used your other hand to cover your mouth, coughing into it.
"Y/N are you okay?" His voice was less joking now, and his hand moved to your back, patting, and rubbing in soft circles.
How embarrassing.
You felt your face break out into a dry sweat, embarrassed shiver's running down your spine as you were finally able to get yourself together, yet you still faced away from him.
You could feel his warmth as he pressed closer, your hand moved back and grabbed his which was still patting circles and you turned smiling at him.
"That sandwich is really spicy." you laughed, not paying attention to how his fingers slid against yours before going back to their original position in his lap. Shinsuke looked down at his hands, light bruises covered his bony knuckles. It took a while for him to snap out of his thought's and look back over at you, noticing you finally.
You wanted to ask him about his bruises, you wanted to ask him about his time after you left. You knew he was changing; you remember how he kissed you on his birthday. The last birthday you were with him for. Your lips still remembered that sensation of his, the tingling, the heat you only read about. you looked at him as he ate another fry, scrolling through his phone comfortably.
You needed to ask him.
What happened, Shinsuke?
What made you so cold and distant?
