Shinsuke and you hadn't planned anything for your first Valentine's Day together.
Not because you didn't want to do anything but because he was so busy with the crew and you were busy working that you two just didn't get the chance to really talk it over, which was fine because as a near 26 year old, you were more than capable of buying yourself chocolates and flowers and not those basic ones but ones you'd truly like...
you only ever had your parents get you valentines growing up so it wasn't like there was a previous romantic experience that you wanted Shinsuke to one up.
When you first woke up and there was no text From Shinsuke, you ignored it, he was known to be busy and dealing with things so you went about your day, sending meme valentines to your cousins and Shinsuke through text and you, yourself got to work.
By mid day you still hadn't received any texts back but you were able to get a call from your parents wishing you a happy Valentine's Day and waste an hour and a half of your time talking about life with them, which was nice, but there was a weird vibe around you and the house that you just couldn't shake.
You were fine but you didn't really feel fine.
"Hello, you've reached kita shinsuke, I'm sorry I've missed your call, please leave your information and I will get back to you as soon as possible."
You tossed your phone on the bed and sat at your desk, drawing up some plans for work and going through your bills until later in the evening, Dramas playing in the background while you read a book and ate dinner.
The sounds of fictional love, really the only thing bringing you peace of mind.
Shinsuke treated every day with you like Valentine's Day, he would surprise you with little trinkets and he gave you all of his love.
It was just another day and you were missing him but you felt like maybe you were subconsciously expecting something from him.
You were spoiled with attention so, maybe you were just being a brat in your own thoughts about the day in general.
The deeper the day went, the brighter and more colorful the colors blended outside. Couples dressed alike, fireworks in the distance, music on the streets below your little apartment, it was all so beautiful and gentle.
Your last few hours you spent outside on your patio, wrapped up and on social media, scrolling mindlessly until you'd pick a good enough time to lay down and go to bed.
9pm finally came around and you were showered, dressed warmly and under your covers ready to sleep away the anxious feeling you'd had all day.
And sleep came much quicker than you'd anticipated, and when you woke suddenly in the darkness of your room, you could see the clock on the end of the wall, near the door read
February 15th, 00:39 am in bright red.
You were confused on why you'd be awake but a light, bristling touch made you snap your head to the left.
Squatted next to you with a mix of white roses, baby's breath and eucalyptus in a bouquet and a large variety of chocolate bars instead of chocolate hearts was a sweaty, disheveled, Shinsuke with his thousand watt smile staring back at you.
"Is it too late for me to say happy Valentine's Day?" He whispered, leaning in closer as you stared up at him, his hands setting the flowers and chocolates aside so he could caress and hold your face in them, his cologne waking you up little by little as he enveloped you in his arms and kissed your forehead.
Maybe Valentine's Day isn't all it's made out to be, maybe you just need Shinsuke.
