Avengers Tower, New York

CRASH!

Diana looked up from her book at the unexpected noise. She turned back to her book after a few moments of silence and then the noise was heard again.

CRASH!

With a frown, she set down her book and got up to investigate. She opened her door just as Clint Barton bolted right passed her, cackling like a maniac.

"BARTON, YOU GET YOUR FUCKING ASS BACK HERE AND CLEAN THIS UP!" Tony's voice roared down the hall.

"NEVER!" Came the archer's shout and then he cackled again like the idiot he was. The cackle soon turned into a high-pitched scream. A thud was heard, along with Russian curses and the sound of a middle-aged man begging. Natasha appeared, dragging Clint behind her.

"Clint, you fucking prick, get your ass to the kitchen and clean that shit up." Tony hissed to the younger man, who stuck his tongue out at the billionaire who rolled his eyes.

"What just happened?" Diana asked, watching the two assassins leave. Tony rolled his eyes again. "Legolas decided it was a good idea to do the cinnamon challenge. Only it wasn't the cinnamon challenge; the douche just pours the entire canister all over me." Diana looked at his shirt and saw cinnamon all over his shirt.

"And then while I was chasing him around the kitchen the bastard ended up breaking two of my vases and then he ran into the wall!" Tony bent over laughing hard he was bent over by the force of it. Diana thought him an idiot.

When Tony stood back up, some cinnamon fell from his hair. He scowled and ran his hands through his hair. "And now I have cinnamon in my hair."

"Then wash it." Diana said bluntly and walked back into her room, shutting the door behind her. It was a few moments before she heard Stark's quiet, "What the fuck." She smirked.

Turning back to her book, she tried to focus but her mind turned back to the super soldier. She wondered what he was doing right now, and then shook her head at the thought. She was getting attached, she finally admitted to herself. The admission sent a sharp pang of longing through her chest.

She was quickly falling for him, and she couldn't bear it. If she got close to him, he would eventually die and that would be on her. She wouldn't be able to live with herself if she killed Captain America. She came to a difficult decision; to keep Steve alive, she would stay away.

Diana knew she would be hurting him, and that idea hurt her more than she wanted to admit. She just wanted to protect him. So, if he was alive, she was okay with hurting him to keep him alive.

Wiping a hand across her face to clear the tears, she turned her attention back to her book. She was at the part where Starr confronted Hailey about using a protest to cut class when FRIDAY interrupted.

"Miss Prince, forgive the intrusion. Director Nick Fury is requesting everyone's presence in the living room. You will need to suit up."

Diana thanked the AI and began to put on her suit. Her first mission with the Avengers. The thought made her want to puke. She soon finished suiting up and made her way to the living room. Fury was waiting with his hands tied behind his back. Next to him was Agent Maria Hill but what made Diana stop in her tracks was the man standing next to Hill. He was tall and from the looks of it, was buff as hell. He had a buzz cut and a stern face. His eyes were gray, lifeless, and cold. They scrutinized her with such intensity that she took a step back.

"He's with us." Fury jerked his head in the man's direction.

"I can see that." She responded, suspicious. She did not trust that man, not at all.
