Chapter 6

TW: self harm, sexual assault

The week went by fast, and the two profiles slowly worked their way back into a normal schedule, allowing for Lily and Charlotte to become more independent. The girls would go to school and come back and there was the occasional therapist appointment. The two also joined a local gymnastics team.

Friday

"Hey Lily, how is the homework going?" Emily started

"Fine" the teen replied, annoyed that they were interrupting her.

"How is school going" JJ started not sure of how to approach the girl.

"Good" Lily replied. Both profilers saddened by the short responses.

"How's gymnastics?" Emily asked.

Lily was getting annoyed with all the questions, "fine, why are you asking me so many questions?"

"We are just trying to see how you are doing." JJ replied.

"Well I'm fine, you don't need to interrogate me" Lily snapped back.

"Well, if you ever need to talk about anything, we are here for you" Emily said.

Lily nodded and suddenly she remembered it was time for her weekly skin check up. She started to cry, she hated this. She didn't cut too much this past week, only on her stomach, so they wouldn't find out.

"Its okay" JJ reassured her as she went to lift her sleeves.

"Are you sure you don't have anymore cuts anywhere else?" Emily looked at the girl suspiciously. Lily grew nervous, trying to stay strong and keep her face normal, but Emily and JJ saw right through her.

"Come on, we are just here to help, remember?" JJ said and with that Lily lifted her shirt to reveal the cuts she made this week. JJ gasped as she saw fresh, deep, and new cuts. She couldn't take it anymore, she hated seeing the little girl so hurt, so she left leaving Emily and Lily. Lily was ashamed, feeling like she had let JJ down.

"She just wants to help you." Emily said as she continued to tend to the girl's cuts on her stomach.

"I know, but I don't need help"

Emily sighed. "What happened here?" pointing to a long deep cut.

Lily shrugged as she started to tear up, "I had a nightmare..and I needed to feel something." she lied, she didn't want them to know about the school situation.

"You need to come to us the next time this happens, promise me you will."

"ok" Lily replied softly.

"No matter what time, I don't care if its 4 AM, come to us."

After Emily finished cleaning up she tucked her in and went to fill in JJ. JJ was sitting in their bedroom as Emily walked in

"hey, she told me she had a nightmare and cut, those were the cuts on her stomach."

"She told you that?" JJ asked raising her eyebrows.

"Yea, surprisingly"

"Come on lets go to bed"

The next few weeks went by slowly. Both girls have become more comfortable with JJ and Emily. It was almost time for both the profilers to go back to work together. These past few weeks they took turns staying home with the girls, but now they needed to go back to the normal schedule. They planned for both the girls to come home by themselves and take care of themselves. Lily was put in charge when they were both gone and if they needed anything, they were to call Garcia.
