The next morning the four went home. Charlotte was still frazzled.
"What's going on in that beautiful head of yours Char?" Emily asked, curious about yesterday evening.
"Nothin" Charlotte tried, not being able to come up with anything.
Emily and JJ looked at her in worry.
"Can I go back to sleep? I'm tired" Charlotte asked.
"Sure, we'll come get you for lunch." Emily responded as the two left her room.
JJ went to go check in on Lily to see her unpacking from their trip.
"Hey Lily"
"Hey"
"Have you noticed anything going on with your sister?"
"No" Lily responded, lying. She knew something was up, but she wanted to figure it out first.
"Maybe she's still getting used to the fact that she can't drink away her problems" Lily said sarcastically.
JJ frowned, knowing she won't get anything else out of the girl.
"Anyways, your trial is coming up, you have a meeting with the DA tomorrow." Lily immediately went back into her own world of thoughts.
"No need to worry, we'll be right there with you. He's just going to ask you questions." JJ quickly sensed the worry in Lily.
Later that night
"So, what's going on?" Lily asked Charlotte.
"Why is everyone so worried about me?" Charlotte replied.
"I don't know maybe because you are TEN year old alcoholic" Lily responded.
"Oh, like you're any better" Charlotte responded.
Emily and JJ hearing this commotion from downstairs. These two were definitely sisters.
"Well, I'm just worried about you," Lily responded, a little hurt from her sisters hostility.
"Worry about yourself" Charlotte said as she turned and left to the bathroom.
Lily went downstairs and was met with Emily and JJ watching TV.
"So what was that all about?"
"Just sister stuff, " Lily replied as she walked to the fridge for a snack and back upstairs to avoid further questions.
3 AM
"Please no!" Charlotte sat up and gasped for air. Lily still not asleep quickly ran to her sister's room.
"Charlotte?"
Charlotte didn't even look up, she just pulled her knees to her chest and started gently rocking herself as she tried to hold back her tears.
"You gonna tell me what's going on? We never keep secrets from each other."
"That bullshit Lily, you and I both know that."
"Well, you know everything now. I just thought that keeping things from you and from everyone else would help protect you, but it does the opposite. So, please what's going on?" Lily pleaded.
"Robert..."
Lily felt the world stop right then and there. She never thought she would hear that name again.
"Was that what your nightmare was about?"
Charlotte nodded. "But, there's more" Lily waited for her to continue.
