Spring 4, year 2 // 2:00 pm

"This girls seriously your first love!? And you don't even know her name!?" Y/n yelled out, staring at Sebastian with wide eyes.

Sebastian was her best friend and he told her basically everything he couldn't with anyone else.

They'd become closer the more they realized they shared the same curse.

Having to draw on your arm with a marker, their soulmate'd be able to see the inc in the same area, as told by the wizard.

They told one another about their soulmate.

How Y/n's played keyboard and was a huge nerd while Sebastians had completely opened up about her past with relationships.

It was comforting, having another with the same curse, they'd known nobody else with a similar story, so having each other made them both feel less excluded from others.

"K listen, I've never liked anybody romantically like this ok? Plus she likes all the same things as me" Sebastian said with a small, stupid smile on his face.

He sat back in his desk chair with an irritated sigh and Y/n watched as his fingers crawled beneath the fabric of his hoodie pockets.

"Hey! Two weeks no smoking remember? I quit, you quit" she pointed at him, leaning forward from the couch.

"I know.." he grunted, clicking his tongue by the roof of his mouth.

"Here!" Y/n grinned, handing him a lollipop, she'd recently been stocking up to keep them both occupied from smoking.

Sebastian stared at the red candy before taking it in his own hands, smiling softly.

"Thanks"
___
Later that day // 7:30 pm

"You think Abby would be mad for taking you instead of her into the mines?" Y/n asked as she ruthlessly impaled the end of her sword into a slime as she and Sebastian passed by.

"Hmm, maybe.. it's freezing in here, are you sure your okay?" Sebastian sneered back at the blue goo left on the ground, god Y/n was scarier than he thought.

"I'm fine! plus the amount of moving I have to do is keeping me warm" Y/n grinned, earning a concerned stare from Sebastian.

Just as the two looked forward a skeleton had launched at them, two others trudging from the back of the cold mines.

Sebastian felt his legs go numb and a horrifying realization came to mind as he fell back.

"Ah!" Y/n yelled as she reached for his hand, she caught him just in time and yelled to him to sit by a Boulder as she fought off the three skeletons, all before taking her sword and swinging at the bony opponents.

Sebastian stared down at his legs, poking at them till he could feel himself again.

He let out a shaky sigh of relief and stood up from his sitting position just as Y/n finished off the lurking monsters.

"You know I can't always protect you down here, Sebastian" Y/n sighed, shoving her sword back into the scabbard wrapped over her chest and shoulder.

She turned back around to the boy, staring at her in a daze.

"Hey, I was just joking.. I got your back" Y/n said with a soothing voice, she squeezed his shoulder delicately as to wake him from his day dream.

The warm feeling of Y/n's hand let him know he was okay and he closed his eyes before inhaling deeply.

"I know, thank you" he said while exhaling.

The relief he felt when being capable of feeling the touch of Y/n's hands on him was more than enough to keep going.

He was there.

He's alright.
___
"Oh god, again?" Robin breathed out shakily.

After getting home, Sebastian ate a late dinner with his mother, which led to conversation about the numb feeling he'd gotten earlier that day.

Robin had always skipped dinner with Maru and Demetrius to eat with Sebastian.

Sebastian nodded softly, digging into the spaghetti Y/n had given them in the morning, Robin was pleased.

"Make sure to take your medication ok honey?" She said, taking his hand into hers, she brushed her thumb over the back of his hand as to comfort the poor boy.

He sighed and nodded once more, letting the silence carry on the rest of their dinner.

Recently he'd been close to his mother, specifically since Y/n had come to town.

He'd only realized recently how he'd treated his mother unfairly after Y/n opened up about her own mom.

She told him about how much Robin treated her like her own, maybe it was the fact that Robin was best friends with Y/n's mother, but either way, Y/n felt her heart start to warm each passing Mother's Day.

Even when she used to hate that day, Robin seemed to make it less intolerable.

Y/n's mom died when she was younger, having the girl joke around about having mommy issues.

Sebastian never seemed to get her dark humour, he'd never really made jokes about his own father, but everyone had their own ways of coping.
___
2:01 am

Sebastian sat staring at his computer screen, dark eye bags nearly sunken into his skin.

He'd made the mistake of finishing yet again another module.

Though he never finished, as he'd messed up in the same source many, many times.

His eyes fell on familiar black marks slowly marking the back of his palm.

'You awake?' The marker read, Sebastian smiled and his eyes felt less heavy than before,  the marker became less visible the more time passed.

'Yeah, finishing up some work, you?' He wrote back with a black sharpie and soon the letters faded one by one.

'Trying to make up a new character sheet for Solarion Chronicles, check it!!' As the words disappeared, a simply drawn female character showed up over his arm, the drawing had one other colour to it, added into the hair as a pretty h/c.

The character seemed familiar...

'Like it? like it?' The words popped up on the opposite arm of the drawing until they'd both slowly disintegrated into his skin.

' I love it'
