Jake and I just sat there eat s’mores for awhile when I laid the blanket down on the ground and sat down on it staring at the sky. I loved to look for shooting stars. I've never seen one, Jake and I would always be out late at night when we were little to look for them. We’d fall asleep outside plenty of times waiting to see if we would finally see one but we never did I’d always fall asleep and I would wake up inside. Jake laid down next to me not saying a word. Counting Stars by OneRepublic was playing. I loved that song, I found myself singing alone with it quietly.
“Lately I've been, I've been losing sleep, dreaming about the thing that we could do but baby I've been, I've been prayin hard” I sang.
“When did you start singing again?” Jake asked.
“I dont know, I found myself singing along with the radio one day.” I said staring at the stars.
“How did you get yourself to do anything after she passed?” He asked.
“I have great friends” I said looking at him.
“Thanks” he smiled.
I turned my attention to the stars again. “Yeah but it’s hard to get over someone you loved. I’m glad I'm not moping around like I was that year. I was so depressed and I just didn't want to do anything, But you gotta have hope and push through it. Right?” I said looking at him again.
“Yeah, I guess so. It’s just really hard, I see her everywhere I look. I wish she was still here I don't know why her plane had to crash. We got a call from her boss Nina, I answered the phone she asked for my dad, when he got done talking to her the tough man I always saw in him was gone, he started to cry. He wouldn't tell me what happened until he calmed down. When he told me she was gone. I didn't believe him at first I thought he was lying but then the words processed and I broke down I went straight to my room the first time I left it was today when you came over. You brightened up my day a lot, I am so glad you came over, I so glad that you're in my life Elizabeth. You mean a lot to me.” He said looking at me.
I smiled and looked at him. I looked back at the sky and I couldn't believe what I just saw.
I just saw a shooting star! It had to be like a sign or something right? From up abouve because when I looked at Jake I saw him completely different. I got a warm feeling in my heart and I knew right there and then that I think I actually like liked this boy. Who has always been there for me and as I was for him. I had to keep cool.
“Hey. Did you just see that?” I asked pointing at the sky.
“Yes, it was so pretty” he said, taking a breath he looked back me and said “I kind of like you.”
I didn't have time to say anytime to reply back because before I knew it he leaned in to kiss me.
Oh my gosh. It was like fire works or something I have no idea how to explain how his lips felt againsted mine all I knew what that I was completely freaking out inside because..
1.) He liked me!
and
2.) He was kissing me!
