Mari's daughter is in the hospital and needs blood, but neither her nor her parents are matches. Which leaves her to talk to the man that shes been avoiding for the past five years.

"You have to," Dick said helplessly, stroking hair from Lily's forehead.

"I know dad, but-"

"No buts, if none of us match, then it has to be him."

"What if he doesnt?"

"Not possible, it has to be him."

"How do you know?"

"Mari stop," he said, his voice tight, "now isn't the time to act like a child."

Mari sighed, "you're right, what's his number."

Damian sighed, "them tell them that their numbers are wrong!" he yelled to his assistant.

"Yes sir," she replied, borderline emotionless.

After she walks out, Damian rubs his forehead. In his opinion, certain people did not belong in the business industry. Or in any industry.

Just as he was about to take a sip of his coffee, his phone rings. He yanks it up aggrevatedly.

"Yes, what do you need," he says without patience.

"Theres a call trying to come through, she says shes family, but I'm not sure."

"You know my family member's names..." he replies, fully aggrevated.

"Yes, but this is from a Ms. Mary Grayson."

"Oh."

Memories flash through his mind instantly. Most importantly the one of them breaking up.

"You're a grown woman, take care of yourself!"

"What is so wrong about me asking you, my boyfriend to pay attention to me?!"

"I do!"

"Oh yeah, when?!"

"I buy you an apartment, a car, a dog, and do you have any idea how much that ring on your finger cost me?!"

"If you think that this makes up for anything," she says yanking the ring off her finger,"then give it someone who only wants you for your bank account!"

"I will, and it'll be someone with more sense than you ever had!"

He knew he shouldn't have said it,but he wanted the last word.

"Sir? Did you hear me?"

He shakes his head, coming back to reality. "Yes, yes, put her through."

"Damian?"

He gulped. "Yes?" he asked, with a but more patience than he used with his assistant, yet still guarded.

"I have a favor to ask?"

"What is it?"

"I-. Can you just meet me at Gotham City Park around 1?"

"I think so, but-"

"Okay, thanks, bye," she said and hung up befor he could even ask what was going on.

3 hours later

"Not to be short, but what are we here for," Damain says, not long after shaking hands with her.

"I have a favor," she replied, mimicking her previous statement.

"Ask away."

"I...there's no easy way to say this..."

"Go on..."

"I need you to test to see if your blood matches my daughter's."

"What!?!" he asked incredulously.

"She's in the hospital and shes gonna...well, you know, if she does that a blood transplant."

"You are not a match?"

"Not me, not my dad, definately not my mom, and no one I know."

"You've tried everything?" he asked as his voice took a softer tone.

"Yes..," she said, trailing off as tears dropped down her cheek, "nothing works."

He reached out a hand to brush the wetness from her cheeks, but stopped immediately, realizing what he was doing. He let his hand fall to his side awkwardly.

"I'm willing to help, but why would I possibly match someone with...outwardly blood?"

She took a deep breath and rubbed her eyes. "Damian, I-"

All of a sudden, her phone started ringing. She picked it up quickly, seeing that it was from her dad.

"Yes?"

"You need to get here."

"I'm on my way," she said, turning to pick up her purse off of a bench nearby.

"What's happening," Damian asked, worry evident in his voice.

"Something with Lillian..."

"Your daughter?"

"Yes, I have to go."

"Do you mind if I come?"

She looked at him for a long moment. "I mean, if you want, but we're taking my car and I'm driving fast."

"I'm sure that I will live."

And with that, they both sprinted to her car.

A few minutes later at the hospital

"Whats going on dad," Mari asked worriedly as her and Damian caught their breath outside of the colorful door in the children's center of GC General.

"It was just her heart rate going up a bit, but they wanted me to call you just in case," Dick replied, and neither him nor his daughter looked eased  by his statement.

Either way, Mary put a hand over her chest. "Thank God."

Dick then turned to Damian, slightly surprised. "You actually brought him," he said to Mary incredulously.

"Yes, you thought I wouldn't?"

"Well you seemed pretty reluctant.."

"I-You know what, we don't have time to worry about what I did and didn't do, I still haven't explained everything to him."

"Why not!?!"

"Because we had to rush here!"

"Um, shall we get to what it was you were going to tell me rather than argue about it," Damian interjected, looking a bit aggitated with his situation.

"Yes," Dick and Mary replied at the same time, but with different tones.

Mary took a deep breath and started the story.
