Things You Said at 1 AM

We laid there, hand in hand, under the starlit ceiling of my bedroom we had done for my last birthday. I remembered your smiling face and your adorable laugh as you jumped up and down on my bed, trying to get the last of the stars onto the ceiling. I remembered standing by the doorway with my shoulder leaning on the doorframe with my hands crossed on my chest as I watched you in amazement. In my head, I remembered myself thinking how captivating your smile was and how blessed I was to have you in my life.

I chuckled at the memory and you asked me quietly what was so funny. I pulled you close to my chest and as I stared into your eyes, I mumbled a lazy 'nothing' and kissed you gently on the lips. The moonlight seeped through the curtains, illuminating our figures in the darkness. The night was silent and your giggles filled the empty silence. As you pulled back from the kiss, you stared right back into my eyes and you whispered,

"There's an ocean in your eyes and I'd love nothing more than to drown in them."

Those were the things you said at 1 AM.
