The Goddard Space Center is a maze of exhibits that Sameer can't wait to start interacting with. He's been here before, especially since he doesn't live too far away, but somehow, doing this instead of regular school makes it fifty times more exciting than normal. Although he wishes his mother would have come chaperone with them, because she has always been a great chaperone (and he gets to buy extra stuff from the gift shop), he'll have to make do with his stoic father.

Since Sameer was a kid, Keith Morgan has seemed like his emotions are strictly turned off. Sameer has never seen the man lose his cool, never seen him complain, never seen him even raise his voice higher than standard talking decibels. He only fully smiles when he sees Sameer with a ball in his hands or with anything that is in regards to his wife. It makes him feel like he's half-human half-Sphinx. Sameer's dad has his outgoing face on today though, talking to somebody else's dad as they walk into the building. It isn't too long after that the tour guide steps out of the employee's only labeled door.

"Good morning everyone! My name is Imani and I'll be your sort-of tour guide today." She's smiling as she speaks. She doesn't look much older than Sameer. Her face is extremely young--not uncommon for black folk--with short, jaw-length hair that falls along the sides of her face. She pulls off the fashionably mussed look perfectly,

"Dang you fine!" Sameer hears a boy shout out from the back of the crowd. There are a couple of people that snicker. Imani just blushes to herself and continues to project confidence as she ignores the comment and continues with the intro.

"Here at Goddard Space Center, we want you all to learn as much as you can. Your teachers and I have come up with a scavenger hunt that you'll be competing against each other to complete first. The group that solves the riddle at the bottom of the sheet the fastest will get a few prizes! This will also count as participation points for all of the classes you're missing for being here. Once we finish, we'll go to lunch, and then after that, there will be a movie to watch about the different probes we've sent to the moon. You'll be writing a one-paged paper on what you learned during this movie so no sleeping!"

There's a series of groans that make her chuckle. "Chaperones will be handing out your worksheets. I will be here to guide you through any questions you may have. The only hint that I can give you is that you'll have to stop at every single exhibit to get all the clues."

Sameer tries not to be disappointed in the fact that he has to work in a group. As they split everyone up, he just holds onto the hope that he will be put in a group full of people who will do the work. There aren't many occasions where Sameer likes to do work, but this is surely one of them.

Naturally, he gets put in the same group as the guy with the very loud crush on the tour guide and a bunch of boys who are just as obnoxious as he is. Sameer hides a groan and wishes that Darius would magically walk through the front door.

Although Sameer's group isn't the most helpful during the scavenger hunt, they all seem to be extremely competitive at the very least. They come in third place, and unfortunately, there's no prize for third place.
