Wilbur and Tommy were now sitting outside the htodog van, talking about L'manburg and the war. Different topics that caught their interest and mostly anything to keep their minds off of their lost friend.

They both felt betrayed by Y/N, especially Tommy, who'd looked up to her as a sister at a young age.

Even Wilbur admitted she felt like family at the time, but now he just felt hurt and confused.

The two chatted until Tommy's friend came up to them, holding an armful of flowers with a wide grin on his face.

"Tommy! I found a bunch of flowers." Tubbo called and the blonde looked up from his conversation with Wilbur. A look of happy surprise morphed into regret and pain as he realized how heavy this conversation would be. Tubbo looked thoroughly confused at his friends expression and decided to ask.

"You okay big man? You look upset." He asked, setting the flowers into his inventory.

Tommy breathed out shakily, closing his eyes for a moment. "No, Tubbo. I'm not. Neither of us are." He gestured to Wilbur, who nodded to Tubbo with a sympathetic smile.

"What happened? Did Dream attack again?" Tubbo pressed, his face becoming puzzled.

"No - well not L'manburg, he attacked me though. But - Tubbo listen..." Tommy stood up, running a hand through his hair as his eyes hardened to anger.

"Y/N is back-" Tubbo erupted into a cry of joy, his face brightening up as he spoke. "Wait really???? Where is she?? Is she in L'manburg???" Tommy stammered out attempts to get Tubbo to calm down, which only served to confuse the boy.

"Tubbo calm down okay? Listen to me, it's not good. Y/N betrayed us." Tommy breathed out shakily, watching as Tubbo expression morphed into fearful confusion.

"...What do you mean..?"

"She joined Dream. She's on their side. She left us, Tubbo." Tommy tried to speak calmly, but the anger in his voice was prominent. "I even confronted her but she acted like she barely knew me."

Tubbo stared at his friend in disbelief, his mouth agape. "Surely not..?" He whispered, tears stinging his eyes.

He raised his arm to his face, pulling his sleeve down to his hand to wipe away the tears, but it only left more in it's wake. Tubbo broke down crying, and Tommy wrapped his arms around his best friend in an attempt to comfort him.

Tubbo wrapped his arms around him, burying his face into his shirt.

"Why would she leave us..?" He mumbled I to Tommy's chest, and the blonde struggled for an answer.

Wilbur stood up, setting a hand on Tubbo's shoulder and speaking up.

"I don't know, Tubbo. But we'll figure it out soon, I promise."

Tubbo nodded, wiping the tears away from his eyes and giving Wilbur a quick hug. "I... I'm gonna go talk to Niki..." Tubbo mumbled, sniffling as Wilbur nodded and Tommy let his friend go.

"Alright, be safe Tubbo."

The young boy ran off, struggling back the tears that threatened to spill from his eyes. It hurt. It hurt that she'd left them for the Dream Team. Had something happened he wasn't aware of? Did Tommy scare her away with his mean words? Did Wilbur do something?

It didn't seem likely that his friends would want to hurt Y/N, and it didn't make sense to him how she'd left.
Was she planning on coming back? Was his just a facade? Maybe she was acting as a spy for them, but had to make it believable?

There were so many questions, so many things he wanted to ask as he ran up the Prime Path to Niki's bakery. Niki was good at comforting people. Her voice was nice to listen too and she gave good hugs and didn't get angry like Tommy did.

He ran up the steps to the building, hesitating at the doorstep.

What if she wasn't there? What if she was busy?

Just as he thought about turning around, the doors swung open and Niki came out, looking surprised to see Tubbo.

"Tubbo? Are you alright? Why are you crying?" She placed her hands on his shoulders, watching with concern as he wiped away the tears again. He hadn't realized he was still crying.

He stayed silent, just wrapping his arms around her in a tight hug, which she returned, a bit uncertain.

Niki led him inside, sitting him down at a table and disappearing behind the counter to grab him something to eat.

It was way past midnight at this point, and the kid had been up since 7am, there was no doubt he'd be hungry, especially after crying about whatever it was.

Niki brought back some muffin, which Tubbo eagerly accepted and Niki sat down next to him, wiping away a stray tear as he ate.

"What happened Tubbo? Did Tommy tell at you?" Niki asked, leaning down to hold eye contact with the child.

Tubbo was slightly amused she jumped to that conclusion and let out a choked laugh, which was muffled by the food in his mouth.

"No, Tommy didn't yell at me." He answered after swallowing the food in his mouth.

"Do you remember Y/N?" He asked, looking up at Niki.

The girl shook her head, slightly confused at the name. She vaguely remember Wilbur mentioning someone called that but it didn't seem important at the time so she didn't remember why.

"Was she a friend if yours?" Tubbo nodded. "Kind of a family friend. Tommy and I both looked up to her. She was nicer to us than Tommy's older brother when it came to training." Niki smiled, gently rubbing Tubbo's back to help him calm down.

"She... She left for a while, told us she had something she needed to do before settling down. We thought she'd be gone for a long time, but we never though six years long..." He mumbled most of his word, but the bakery was quiet so Niki could hear him clearly.

"Tommy told me she came back. That he met her in the woods but..." He trailed off, a feeling of pain settling in his chest.

Niki waited patiently for him to continue, knowing the kid was clearly very upset, and she didn't want to push him.

"But he said she joined Dream."

Niki's eyes widened and she whispered out an apology. She had no idea what it was like to lose someone that close, but she knew it couldn't feel nice.

She pulled Tubbo into a hug, who returned it, his face buried between her shoulder and neck.

"I'm so sorry Tubbo... Maybe there's an explanation? Maybe we're misunderstanding something?" She offered trying to help the boy not lose hope just yet.

Tubbo nodded. "I hope so... I really hope so..."
