This chapter is from Talia's perspective. I'm not sure if I have exactly typed it from a 4-year-old's perspective. It might actually feel like it's much older, but I tried my best. 😋
Hope you like it!
I had my nose pressed up against the airplane window, as I watched the pretty stars. They were so twinkly. Why do stars twinkle? I look behind me, straight at Addy, who was working on his laptop.
"Addy, why do stars twinkle?"
He scrunches his nose up, "Addy?"
I nod slowly and then throw my hands up, "It's my nicky-name for you. Do you like it?"
I also give him a smile, since Mama said that, if I smiled, the whole world will smile with me.
He gives me a smile back, but it's a bit funny, and says, "I guess"
I pout at him. It always works with grown-ups. He sighs.
"How about you call me Riano?"
"Why?"
He frowns and whispers something that sounded like, 'why are kids so hard to please?'
"Because I like Riano"
"But I don't like it"
"I like it"
"I don't"
"I like it"
"I don't"
"I don't"
"I like it"
I blink a few times, and then let out a gasp.
"Th-that's cheating. You cheated", I say with a huff and cross my arms. He just laughs at me. So, I give him my best angry face. He just laughs again. Why do grown-ups laugh so much?
"I was right. You look cute, even when you are angry"
"I am not cute. I am angry. Look, this is my angry face. I am mad", I say. I even growl, to prove it to him.
"What was that, a squeal?"
"It was a growl", I say stomping my feet. Tears appear in my eyes. Mama says whenever I get grumpy, I start crying. Riano sees it too. His eyes widen.
"Shit sweetheart, I'm so sorry. You can call me anything you want"
"Anything?"
He gulps but nods.
"I'll call you Riano", I say with a huge smile. He looks happy.
"That's great! Now, do you want to play something"
"Can we play ludo?"
