Today was the first day of Spring according to the Lunar Calendar, an auspicious day for the people of the Kingdom of the Blue East.

It was called the Kingdom of the East, because it was located on the borders of China in the far east. Blue was the sacred color for its inhabitants, as it was the color of the sky where God lived and watched all from above.

As princess Mei roused from her sleep, excited while she could hear the servants of her royal suite busy preparing for this day in hushed voices and hurried steps.

Sleep eluded her as she got up abruptly, she could not wait for the festivities to start. The entire family would be offering prayers and would be getting new clothes and all kinds of meals and sweets.

Reaching out, princess Mei pushed open the latticed windows of her royal suite and welcomed the first rays of the sun as it peeked out from behind grey skies, flooding the misty scenery with a piercing glow.

The cool breeze caressed her cheeks as she reveled in the sunlight. "Uhm... Beautiful". Her joy quickly turned into unprecedented astonishment and fear.

Not everyone was preparing for the big spring festival, but rather gathering troops in preparation for war. Everyone was running and screaming in fear of the enemy's arrival.

Princess Mei felt a heavy weight on her chest as she closed her eyes then opened them. Her eyes were dim, and her heart ached. It took her some time  to adjust to the scary sight of their army in alert.

Mei's eyes became apparent, she saw a strange look on her father and her brother when they came into her royal suite without a prior notice.

She nearly cried "What is going on?" The fear that blanketed her feelings was beginning to grow gradually into great terror.

"My beautiful little angel!" It had been an unusually situation where she saw the king himself plead under her feet for help.

The king was panting while saying to his only daughter "The Great Kingdom sent the Prince of Fire and his soldiers to take over our kingdom and kill its people".

".....!" Mei was speechless and just listened in great panic.

"Are you suggesting a peace deal? You won't offer Shen Mei to that beast like human!" The crown prince's heart gave a wild leap which sent up a wave of deadly nausea to his throat, he nearly threw up at the thought.

Shen Wei sickened at the idea itself, and a sweat of fear broke out over his forehead and ran down his quivering face "let's fight like real men, father!"

"We will all die, the only chance to save our people is offer the princess as a peace gift to their crown prince and" It was futile to think otherwise.

Shen Wei begged "Dad!"

It was no use-he knew he could never do it in that way. Shen Wei's attempts to go into a lost war were as futile as his chances to win.

He couldn't make himself a real worrier, and he couldn't get rid of the enemy for the sake of his people. And that was why he had to think of his sister's protection instead.

"It is better to be a province of the great kingdom than a served meal for the monsters of fire. Did you not hear about him that Youngster of the Kingdom of Fire?

The king of The Blue East Kingdom raised his head with a quick movement of surprise, fear was painted on his face unable to calm down. He added,

"They call him the God of abyss, the monster with the stony heart"
