Tim?Damian looked up at the man in front of him. Neither of them seeming to know how to handle the situation. Damian's body trembled, he spent almost half his life as a cruel killing machine but just the sight of this man gave him unimaginable fear.
Tim watched as the shorter male below him began to shake while looking down in fear. 'What the hell is going on' he thought as the male continued to shake like a leaf.
"Um..... are you alright?"
He asked trying to fix the situation without drawing attention to them.
Timothy Drake, someone Damian has always felt resentment for, it's just that now there's a good reason for it. Damian found no fault in admitting that he was a spiteful and arrogant person in his childhood because it was true, he lamented over the smallest things and felt as though others were below him.
Which is why he can say from the day he arrived at the Wayne manor till the day he "died", Damian has not once felt any true semblance of warmth from the male.
"Hey, I asked if you're alright" The older male said reaching out to help him up.
I got up not giving the helping hand any thought, not even bothering to look up. The best thing for me to do at this moment was leave, and that's exactly what I'll do.
I turned to leave without a word but today must be my birthday because it's full of bad fucking surprises.
"Friend Damian?"
"Is that you?"Ugh I can't remember what it is I did to bring this kind of luck with me today. I really should have stayed home.
I was blocked in on both side, stuck between a rock and a hard place. Weather I wanted to or not I could feel the intense stair of Tim on my back as if it were stabbing into me.
"Kori!, oh and Tim, I finally found you guys, but I thought we were meeting up at the food court to eat and then go shopping?"
Of course, I should have known where ever there's an alien princess there's her night in shining armor.
He most have realized something was off from how quite it was because he suddenly turned to star with a questioning look.
As I tried to make my way past them I felt someone grab my arm as Richard opened with another question.
"Kori? What's going on?"
"Ah, it's nothing I was just thinking that this man looks very much like friend Damian"
"Although he does look much older they're very similar don't you think?"
Although I'd like to listen in on every way this foreign land mine could blow my whole cover away, but I don't have much time to focus on it as I'm currently being turned towards the person I least want to see on this horrible day.
It's probably been a minute or two since I was rudely grabbed and turned to face my demise. Although nothing was said I could still feel his gaze in me as he took in my features.
"Damian?"
I could hear him choke out the word as if it were hard to say. Even if there was no good feelings between us, they weren't bad enough to make even saying my name unbearable.
I was about to shove him off, make a few snide remarks before making my way out, but I didn't have the chance as the next second he let go only to again move a cup my face in his hands.
"Dami is it really you?"
As much as I'd like to quickly move back and runaway, his actions caught me off guard.
Why did he sound so sad? If anything he should be angry or upset, but not sad never sad or remorseful for the youngest Wayne. An unwanted problem child who knew both more than what his mother taught him.
A child that no matter how hard he tried no one would ever believe he'd change. Just a burden that Bruce Wayne decided was his responsibility after mother abandoned him for the first time in this god damn city.
Why would he feel sad?
Why should he feel anything at all?
And with that his heart was once again solidified not a trace of doubt in his own actions.
There was nothing left for him in the past so he had to look for something in the future. All the past will do is hold me back so there's no need to hold on to something that's not there.
With that he used a bit of force to break Tim's hold on him, a cold look in his eyes before turning to leave.
He didn't dare look at or make eye contact with Richard another factor powerful enough to break his resolve. He pushed star and Richard making his way towards the exit.
Never slowing down, no instead he picked up the pace trying to reach the exit even a little bit faster.
As he left to make his way back home he took time to cover his tracks and avoid any cameras, because if they wanted to, those were the easiest way to find him.
After reaching his house he entered and locked the doors, shut the windows, and closed the blinds.
It was dark but that was fine, no it was more than fine, it was what he needed.
A reminder
A reminder of the past that can't be left behind or undone.
Something to help his resolve to stay away, to never have to explain or make excuses.
For what he'd done, there was no forgiveness or warmth waiting for him. Only scorn and disgust. After all everything was his fault, there was no one else to blame but him.
Yes it was my fault.
There's nothing waiting for me back at home. They'd only see me as a monster, just as he said, just as she thought, and just as I willed.
As he broke down sinking to the floor, folding in on himself there was no clue as to what could be going on in his head but the rest of the world seemed scarily quite in comparison.
