(CORALINE'S POV)

~~

My heart was beating fast as I walked away from the garden. I couldn't believe Wybie still likes to spend time with me! I wonder a bit if he feels the same way I do about him... nah there is no way... right?

My head was spinning with questions but I pushed them aside for now and began to prepare for the sleepover. I gathered my sleeping bag and a few items like a flashlight, pocket knife (just in case we decide to make a fire and we need something to cut the wood), some marshmallows, chocolate, and gram crackers to make s'mores with and stuffed them into my bag.

I quickly did some of my daily house chores and started heading towards Wybie's house to go with him to the place we would camp and stopped half way and sniffed the air to smell a roasting chicken. God I love his grandma.

(WYBIE'S POV)

~~

I watched as Coraline skipped back home and chuckled to myself. She hasn't changed a bit. I heard grandma calling for me so I picked up the garden tools and made my way back to our house.

I went inside and put away all the tools and went to help grandma out with house cleaning. I finished putting away the cleaner supplies when she called for me to come over. "Wyborn, help me make the dinner!" I sighed and walked over feeling a tad bit tired but the fact I'd get to spend the night with Jonsey woke me up a bit.

Grandma had apparently run to the store today and bought a nice chicken breast with some corn on the cob. She insisted that we have a real dinner instead of just eating s'mores. I had just put the chicken in the oven when I looked over to see grandma staring at me.

"What?" I asked with my eyebrows knitting together in confusion. Grandma chuckled and placed both her hands on her hips. "Did you do it?"

"Agh! No grandma!!" I said with a blush creeping it's way across my face. Grandma has been teasing me daily into asking Coraline out, but every time I chicken out. Look, Coraline isn't like most of the girls I've met at school.

She's nice but also a little hard-headed and she excepts me for who I really am... I don't know a lot of people who would do that for me... and she's so pretty...

I shook my thoughts away and quickly ran upstairs and grabbed my sleeping supplies and a tent from inside the attic. I looked at the clock on the wall to see it was already 6 o'clock and that Coraline would be here soon.

I raced about making sure everything was packed and heard a knock on the door downstairs. My heart pace picked up a little as if on cue. Coraline is here. I ran down the stairs and quickly opened the door. She had a huge grin on her face and I welcomed her in.

"It's been three years Wyborn and you never let me in your house?! It's so beautiful!" She said with awe in her tone. I stared at her beautiful figure and spoke without thinking, "Not as beautiful as you-" I stopped myself before I said something worst and saw Coraline staring at me with an unreadable expression.

Her eyes softened a bit and a smile spread across her face. "Y-you think I'm beautiful?" I blushed and frantically covered it up. "Y-yeah, I'd be a fool not to." Coraline's smile widened even more if that was possible and she quickly pecked my cheek.

"You're not too bad yourself, Wyborn." She giggled and made her way to go say hi to grandma and I let out a sigh of relief. If she kissed my cheek... that could be a sign... right?! What do I do!? Girls are so confusing!

I shook my head and quickly went to turn the oven off to get the chicken and corn out. From what I heard, this was one of Coraline's favorite dinners. Sometimes I feel like my grandma knows more about her than I do ...sheesh...
