"Meeerlin!"

Merlin rolled his eyes in disgust. It appeared that he was needed for something, most likely something the royal prat was too lazy to do himself.

"Merlin!"

He sighed and rolled off his bed to do his master's bidding.

"We're going hunting. Just the two of us. Prepare the horses and be ready within 2 hours. Oh, and tell sir Leon that he's in charge till we get back." Arthur ordered.

Great, Merlin thought. More killing.

*Spongebob voice* 2 hours later

The king and his manservant rode out into the harsh forest surrounding Camelot.  They were riding for a good 3 hours with their usual banter [read: flirting] keeping them entertained.

When they had a good haul of 3 deer, a large, wild boar and a couple of birds, they stopped by a river to clean off.

When Merlin's back was turned,  Arthur dove straight into the seemingly gentle water. He was immediately caught off guard by the vicious undercurrent that swept him under.

Merlin, panicking, used his magic to keep Arthur from dying in the water and jumped in after him.

Merlin managed to haul Arthur to the river bank and levitate them both out.

Arthur stopped breathing.

With no time wasted panicking, he did what he was taught so many years before- the kiss of life.

1, 2, 3 pushes to the chest, listen for breathing.

1, 2, 3 breaths of air into his lungs, check for breathing.

After a while, Arthur coughed. He hacked up most of the water from his lungs, and grinned weakly at Merlin.

"Seemed you've saved my life again." He said, then passed out.

Merlin made camp and made sure his King was comfortable. He didn't want to dwell on the fact he'd nearly lost his reason for living- his Lord and Master, the Royal King Of Camelot, the Royal Prat, his best friend and his secret crush.

When Arthur had woken up, they started to make their way back home.  After an hour of awkward silence between them, Arthur spoke.

"Thank you." He said so quietly at first Merlin thought he was hearing things.

"Well, to be honest... I can't live without you, you prat." Merlin whispered the last part. Arthur flushed bright red.

"And I couldn't  live without you,"

It was Merlins turn to blush. In fact, he was so surprised at the compliment, he fell off his horse.
