I know I said Riddick was more of an optional OC (and he still is) but in scenarios that he is there, I think its super symbolic how that brings him up to 4 boys...... just like Stakar.
Well, originally he started with 4 kids and ended with 4 boys (counting Akai) still.
And think of Stakar's pride in knowing that even after he kicked Yondu out, he still technically followed in his footsteps (not that Yondu wouldn't have taken on more kids if it helped them-).
