Dream walked along the edge of the building, carelessly placing his feet. He looked to the left and saw the clouds, knowing that below them was hard Earth. He looked to the right and saw a mirror. His steps faltered, and he stumbled.

He awoke with a start, the feeling of falling quickly leaving his stomach.

He sat up and looked around. There was a tiny strip of light sneaking in through his black curtains, a warm fuzzy in the crook of his arm, and his door was cracked slightly. Warm fuzzy?

Oh.
Patches.

"Hello there, sweetie," Dream spoke softly, luring her out of her sleep by rubbing her ears.

She slowly blinked her eyes at him, reaching her paws out to touch his hand.

Dream smiled and picked her up, toting her along with him down the stairs.

She snuggled back into his chest, happy not to have to move yet.

He reached the bottom of the stairs and made a sharp left, heading towards the kitchen.

He set Patches down on a bar stool and went around the island to the freezer.

He pulled out strawberry toaster strudels and popped them into his toaster.

Humming to the music in his airpods he'd just put in, he went on his phone while waiting.

Patches slowly approached him, waiting to see if he'd allow her on the island right now or not.

He did.

She walked over to him and started rubbing her face on his hand.

"Are you hungry, sweetie?" Dream cooed, pushing himself from the counter to fill her food bowl.

She followed him patiently, trotting over to her bowl to wait.

He bent down to get the scoop of food from under the counter when Patches started hissing.

He stood up straight so fast that he hit his head, startling Patches even more, and causing her to run off.

He rubbed the back of his head and opened his eyes to see George standing there with an apologetic look on his face.

"I'm sorry, Dream - I didn't mean to scare her.." He mumbled, looking down at the floor.

"It's fine, George. Don't worry about it. She just needs to get used to you." He reassured.

George nodded, and Dream poured the food into Patches' bowl.

He walked back over to the toaster right before the strudels popped up.

Numb to the heat, he grabbed the two 'pastries' and placed them on a paper plate.

He then moved over to the coffee maker and made the lovely bean juice that he would regret drinking when he got shaky later.

The machine beeped, and he poured some into a cup. He was about to take a drink when a pair of arms wrapped around his waist and a head dropped onto his shoulder.

He glanced down to see a sleepy Sapnap in Dream's hoodie, wrapped around him.

"Oh, hey bubs. Stay up late?" Dream asked softly.

This had happened a few times before. Sapnap or Dream stays up too late and then gets up too early. Then they lounge around all day on the couch, watch movies, and nap on and off together.

Sapnap nodded his head on top of Dream's shoulder before burying his face in the crook of Dream's neck.

"You want some coffee?" Dream offered.

Sapnap 'nuh-uh'ed.

"I was actually asking George, bubs." Dream said with a little laugh.

Sapnap just shrugged it off, too tired to bother responding.

Dream turned around, Sapnap going with him, to see George awkwardly sitting at the bar staring at them.

Dream really wished Sapnap would get off of him right now. But he couldn't ask him to do that. This was how they acted. George would just have to get used to that.

He would have to.

"Ahem, yeah, I uh will have some coffee." George finally said.

Dream nodded and turned back around, Sapnap slung around with him again.

Dream poured another cup of coffee and gave it to George.

"There you go. You want some eggs or something?" He asked.

"You don't have to wait on me, Dream. I can do things for myself." George said with a small laugh.

Dream rolled his eyes, "So eggs or not, Georgie?"

George paused. "Uhh. Ye - yeah, eggs, I guess." He sputtered and looked away.
[George: 😳👉👈]

Dream smiled and turned toward Sapnap, holding his face.

"Bub, go lay down or something. I need to be able to move without having a monkey clinging to me. I can come watch movies with you after I make Georgie his breakfast."

Sapnap made a fake sad face and tried to fall forward back onto Dream. Dream held him out at arms length, which made Sapnap make an even sadder face.

He turned and went back the way he came, heading to the movie room.
[They rich rich 😃]

Dream turned back around and started whipping up some eggs to the sounds of Coffee Breath.

When he finished, he poured them onto a plate and handed them to George.

"Thank you, Dream. You really didn't have to."

"I know I didn't have to, but I wanted to. Just accept my egg, George!" Dream joked again. He had somehow forgotten how George had reacted to the inappropriate humor last night. He slipped up. Again.

Dream cleared his throat and started,  "I'm gonna go watch some movies with Sap. When you get done, feel free to come join us."

Then he turned and walked away quickly, feeling his cheeks become flamethrowers.

Instead of going into the movie room immediately, he turned into his favorite downstairs bathroom; it had no mirror.

He walked in and washed his hands, splashing his face with cold water.

"Stop doing this, Dream. You're going to ruin everything, and he's going to move out. Don't make him the third wheel." Dream whispered to himself quickly.

He grabbed the maroon hand towel to his left and dried his hands off, running the tough material slowly over the tendons that were visible.

He turned the light off and headed toward the movie room.

Who needs toaster strudels?

Don't make him the third wheel.
