College type beat

They are humans!

I can't really see them having Techno and Dream as their names in this AU so I'll be using their real ones.

Dave groaned as he stretched his arms out. Straightening his posture for the millionth time that night as an attempt to stay awake. He had been working for hours, yet his to-do list in Google classroom was no where near empty. He admired how they could code such a smart app he really did, but he hated how it gave a way for teachers to give a mass amount of homework with an excuse of: 'You won't get as much knowledge because it's online.' He thought it was stupid. Making students overwork themselves into burning out or whatever else. His laptop threatening to die on the spot. He had History and English in the bag but other than that, it was a pain.

The global situation was so stupid, or so he thought it was. Having to be stuck at home for more than a year and a half now. Just because of a virus people could have prevented by not being an ass and not going out for a while. Since then everyone adapted to online learning.

He lived in a rather large dorm, money was never a problem for him but he had decided to choose the humble option. Dorms were closer to college anyways. One thing that made it an experience were the roommates usually. Many had moved in and right out. Dave was a straight forward kind of guy, he didn't have much of a filter. So a lot of people thought of him as rude, same thing for the past roommates. Recently, a new person moved in.

Suddenly he heard a knock on his door.

"Come in." He said, eyes still glued to his laptop.

The door creaked as it slowly pushed open.

Clay. His new roommate. The blonde walked over to the other, gaze lowering to the laptop. Slightly squinting his eyes at the only source of light lighting up the dark room.

"So, what do you need?" Dave asked. He looked up.

Clay's eyes softened at the tired male. "It's 2am."

"I can see that." Dave glanced at the corner of his screen, the numbers that told time and space stood out in its blue font.

"You haven't eaten any food and I doubt you've had any sleep either." He mentioned.

"I am aware. I've got work to finish." Dave grumbled, pushing up his glasses.

Clay sighed. "Dave. Turn off the laptop." He said sternly. Dave was taken back, Clay has never used such a tone before. He was usually cheery and relaxed. It was a tad bit intimidating.

"What are you, my dad?" He scoffed but immediately regretted it. Clay towered over him, glaring down with his emerald green eyes that seemed to pierce through Dave.

Clay took control of Dave's mouse, saving his work. He forced the laptop closed and in a swift movement, picked up Dave.

"DUDE WHAT THE HELL?!" Dave squirmed, but Clay stayed silent.

Again. Clay didn't Bother giving an answer.

The blonde put down his roommate on his own bed, they were now in Clay's room. Clay threw himself right after, softly landing on Dave. He hovered over Dave, trapping him. He couldn't protest further. Clay's arms trapped him. "Just two homies in a bed, cuddling." Dave joked.

"I'll help you with assignments tomorrow." Clay whispered.

Dave gave in, letting his muscles relax. Melting into Clay's warm touch. He could let it slide, just this once.

The sunlight shun brightly, forcing his eyes open. Dave winced. The weight he felt last night was gone. Clay was gone. Dave slowly got up, eyes searching for the other. He managed to find his glasses on the nightstand. The clock stated that it was 9:45am. Turning his head to look around once more. He spotted Clay at his work desk, which was neat and tidy. The opposite of what his desk usually was. "I cleaned up your room and I'm clearing a bit of your math work right now." Clay hummed. Fast yet calming typing sounds could be heard.

Dave didn't think his extremely charming roommate would offer to help, I mean— He wasn't complaining but he still felt guilty. "Hey- I'll just finish the rest myself it's fine—" Dave said.

"Your what, 51 assignments?" Clay glanced up. He didn't expect an answer from the pink haired male. Instead he looked back to the question he was working on. "I didn't think so." He added.

Clay looked so relaxed. He wasn't stressing over the numbers and formulas like Dave would. He pushed his dirty blonde hair back slightly, his bangs had grown over to cover his eyes. Dave sighed. He walked up behind the blonde. Dave hesitated but he put his hands on Clays shoulders. He softly pushed down, massaging. The other let out a small huff of relief.

Although no words were exchanged, they enjoyed each other's company. Clay finished a huge chunk of Dave's assignments. Dave's eyes widen when he saw the to-do list got so much tinier in size. So much weight was lifted off of him. He had to thank Clay.

Dave wasn't an affectionate one, at least not verbally. It was hard for him to portray emotions strongly with words. He simply wrapped his arms around Clay and nuzzled his face into the crook of the blonde's neck. Clay was surprised by the sudden action and reacted with a flinch. Which made Dave have second thoughts about the action.

Clay chuckled softly. "Is this your way of thanking me? That's cute." He cooed.

Dave only hugged him tighter. His ears going red, so was his hidden face. If only he could describe how thankful he was in words. It would be much less embarrassing. Clay just single-handedly not only saved his scholarship but also freed him from mass amounts of deadline stress.

Dave's pink hair fell to the front. His posture and guard dropping for the first time in forever.
