365 Days to Forever
Well 365 Days, 3 Hours, 21 Minutes, and 57 Seconds to be exact. Keira Walters, 18. Just a girl in love with a box of Prismacolor pencils, a few yet-to-be-discovered local bands, and the way the purples, pinks, and golds streak across the horizon at the break of dawn. She's carrying the baggage of a stereotypical, teenage, just-about-to-start-college girl. Not especially tall and leggy, or particularly skinny with a well-defined bikini body. She did have great hair though. "Unbelievably shiny" was a typical comment. People always said Keira was a great listener, had a sense of humor, and was pretty amazing when it came to academics. She wasn't particularly pretty, but not ugly either; blessed with high cheekbones and cursed with disproportionately large ears. At 18, unlike many girls of her age, she didn't give much thought to the concept of love; her relationships never seemed like the real thing, and she enjoyed the life of a single woman. Overall, Keira was nothing more, yet nothing less. "I'm absolutely, yet contently, average."
He was a different story though. No, I'm not talking about a handsome prince coming to rescue Keira from the clutches of adolescence, or that young man next door who goes from best friend to lover in an instant, and not even the attractive bad boy clad in black and mystery. No, not at all.
Derek William Myers was an interesting case indeed. He was a charming young man, with daringly good looks for one of his status. He hails from a rich and noble family who have left their grand and unmistakable marks in the books of history. He had his whole life in order; he would inherit a great sum of money and would marry a beautiful young woman, as arranged by his father. However, nothing could prepare him for that night in 1846, where the promises of an afterlife were stripped from him for unknown reasons. Left behind in the world of the living for much longer than anyone could ever ask for, his 'immortality' came with a curse. The human eye does not register his presence, nor his actions. He is invisible. It has been so since that night in 1846, more than a hundred years ago. The reasons as to why Derek is invisible and immortal are a mystery. For more than a century, he has had to experience a change in the way the world works - from technology to morals to government and everything in between - however his invisibility has remained consistent throughout all these developments in mankind. Upon one thing he was certain. "I am alone."
The present day is not a carefree and forgiving place for a teen moving in to her own, though quite ramshackle, apartment in the bustling suburbs of San Diego. For Keira the move has been stressful, but as she unloads the last of the boxes and walks out onto a seemingly crumbling balcony, she notices she's not alone. A tentative hand reaches for a slumped shoulder, her voice a mere whisper due to either fear or awe. "Who are you?"

At the moment, this is just a concept...came up with it as I was wandering around the nearby shopping complex. Must be something to do with the chilled winter air...triggers my creativity, I guess. Hoped you liked this preview! :)
