Let's take it back a little before that happened.
All throughout her life Kirsten has been used and walked on.
Why?
Her caregiving personality that she now curses. Due to her mental illnesses her brain had matured faster than anyone else's that she knew. Kirsten was the type of girl that made guys fall for her unintentionally, simply because she listened and was more mature than most girls in her grade. This happened quite a few times throughout the years, she never blinked twice for any of them until it came to Keon.
Kirsten was a natural born caregiver, always caring for everyone else and not herself. And she did just that for Keon. Gave her everything to him, attention and time. Never required much attention. She understood that he had a life, especially with taking care of three younger brothers. Now she wasn't perfect, that's for sure. More than anything she was flawed. Like any teenager she had acne and her biggest insecurity, the hyper pigmentation above her upper lip. Besides her physical flaws she was an overthinker, jealous of everyone that seemed happy in her life. Jealous that they were "normal" and didn't have to deal with stupid mental illnesses.
You see, Kirsten doesn't have the happiest of pasts. It's nothing overly traumatic however she was bullied in the 6th grade and you'd think she'd be able to get over it by now, being in the 10th grade but that's where you're wrong. She let the rumors, comments about her body, and all the drama of that year get to her. From that year forward no one in that class was the same person, everyone had changed and it was all because of one single person, Jesse.
It is yet to be believed that if he hadn't come to Kirsten's elementary school, everyone and everything would be different. That one boy changed everyone's life in the matter of 10 months, Kirsten's for the worse. What makes it sad is that, at only the age of 12 she was suicidal.
Ready to end her life but she had stayed and met the person that would want to keep her from doing just that.
