Beep

Beep

Beep

I slammed my fist on the screeching noise that had dared destroy my peaceful slumber. The alarm clock stopped, and I slowly got out of bed with a moan. Sleepily stepping over the miscellaneous things that were scattered across my floor, not caring that my room was a mess, I looked into the mirror and saw my eyes, normally bright green, were really dull this morning, with bags underneath. My pale skin looked even paler, even with the freckles, acne covered my face, and my unnatural, dark, orange-red hair was up and everywhere with a complimentary rats nest in the back. To put it short, I was a mess.

I picked up my hairbrush off the dresser that was covered with useless things and a pile of clothes that I kept saying that I'd put away, but never got around to doing it. I raised the brush and started the long and daring battle with my hair. After thirty minutes, my hair was straight as it naturally could be. I didn't bother to put makeup on or do anything special with my hair - because I was lazy. I put on a random shirt from the pile on top of my dresser and a pair of sweats, then I went to the laundry room and grabbed some random socks, not even bothering to see if they matched. I then went to the bathroom and did my business. I put on my socks with my old running shoes that had holes all in them; grabbed my backpack and was out the door.

I lived in a small town, population of about 5,000. Everybody knew everyone around here. I was walking down the cracked sidewalk with my ear-buds in, mainly listening to the music for the noise, Ignoring the cars and everyone around. I got to school, and nobody was in the halls, probably because there was only about a minute until the tardy bell rang. Not worried, since my class was close to the entrance, I took my time walking to class; I started the day.

Riiinnng

That horrendous sound, but music to my ears, was the bell ending the school day. All the kids rushed out of the room like their life depended on getting out of class as fast as they could, which in some weird way, it did. I walked out of art waving goodbye to my friends with a pretend smile on my face to be polite, but as soon as they were out of sight my neutral face was on. I loved my friends, we always talk about anime together, but I was just not feeling it, not in the mood. I plug in my buds and begin walking out of the practically deserted hallways.

I cross the lonely road, wanting to get to the other side (duh), not paying attention to the things around me, just wanting to get home and sleep after the hard workout in athletics today. Next thing I heard was a ear piercing noise of a horn. I turned to see a bright, yellow, school bus slamming its breaks, trying to stop, heading straight towards me. Then it all turns black.

I felt something wet on my face.... Drip.... Drip... Drip

I opened my eyes to see dark walls around me and the ground cold and damp. I slowly got up off the ground, feeling like I got run over by a semi. I looked down to see that my normally skinny body was covered with the scarlet liquid, called blood, and my clothes, were basically nothing. I gasped, never see such a gruesome sight, only on TV, but got over it quickly.(this is a result of reading too many creepy-pastas, and playing too many horror games) Then, I remembered the accident, the bus, the screeching of the breaks. I check myself for any puncture wounds, but found none. I let out a sigh of relief, but I was still confused about where I was. I had taken a step forward in the unknown space to land in some water, or at least I hope it was water. The liquid filled my socks and shoes make them uncomfortable, but ignoring the feeling I began walking forward. I started to hear laughter down the hall. For a moment I paused, I watched plenty of horror movies to know that I should have probably turned back, but where else would I have gone?

I kept my path and ended up in a small, dark room, the only light in the room was produced by only two small torches on each side of the room, with a chair in the middle. There was a man, a beautiful man, sitting in it.... More like lying. He had one leg over the arm of the chair and the other on the ground. He supported himself with his arm as he leaned back, head over the arm of the chair, and took a bite of a big, shiny, red apple. You could see his muscles with an open vest that exposed his chiseled chest and strong arms to me. He looked at me and laughed.

"Do you want to live or die?" He asked me in a haunting voice.

I was shocked speechless that he even said anything, none-the-less ask me a question.

He sat up this time and smiled a creepy smile. He repeated his question," Do you want to live or die?"

"Live," I whispered softly.

His smile grew even more creepily. Shadows covered his face where I could only see his smile. "Let us make a deal."

I gulped, but nodded my head.

"I grant you life, you give me something in return."

"W-what do you want?" I stuttered, taking a step back. The liquid still surrounding my legs had made a sloshing noise, I looked down at my feet to find that the liquid was a dull red color, and I saw a glimpse of bone.

Why am I here? I know I died, but why am I here? Is this hell, because I sure know this ain't Heaven? Who is this guy?

"Your soul." He appeared in front of me, inches from my face. I jumped back in surprise. He chuckled and touched my face as though he could so easily break me. He then vanished, but just to reappear behind me. He put an arm around my shoulders as if we were best buds. "Listen here. If I get your soul, you can live again. Simple as that."

"What would you do to my soul once you have it?" I had asked him, dreading the answer.

He looked down at me and his devil smile grew."Now, why should I tell you that?" He walked in front of me, not caring about the liquid that soaked his pants, then quickly turned around to face me. "Do we have a deal. Take it now or forever hold your peace."

"Wait-" I tried to say, but was interrupted by the man.

" tisk, tisk, tisk, no, you either take it now or you die."

I don't want to die! But he won't let me do anything.

"F-fine" I stuttered, not believing what I had just said.

"Hmm. Fine what," He asked scooting closer to me.

"I accept your deal" I said with a little more confidence.

He laughed such a soul shattering laugh that I was petrified as he got closer. He was centimeters from my face when he whispered, "good." and sealed the deal with a kiss.

He kissed me. Then it hit me. What he was.

I just made a deal with a demon.
