"Hey, Taylor," I say as I hug her.

"Hey, Adrianne!" she says. "I missed you!"

"I missed you too!" I say as we enter the ice cream shop. "I had the weirdest day yesterday. Let's order then we can talk about it."

We both order our ice cream and sit down in the cozy chairs. Even though it is November, it is never too cold for ice cream.

"So, what do you think about Asher..." I ask hesitantly.

"Asher? Michael's son? Horrible person, ugly personality, ritzy, thinks money can buy anything-"

I cut her off and say, "I know. He is awful. At least the side of him that I have always known is awful. But, what if he has a different side?"

"Darling, you know he doesn't. Don't even let your head wander down that path. Do not."

"Well, let me tell you about yesterday at lunch. He kept trying to get my attention. He even texted me and asked why I was ignoring him. Then, when I went to the restroom, he waited outside. Yes, very creepy, but he wanted to talk to me so bad that he waited. When I blew him off, he left the restaurant altogether then called his dad to inform his dad that he is taking his girlfriend away for the weekend. He wanted his dad to know that he wouldn't be at work until next week. But, it seemed like he wanted me to find out from his dad. Then, Michael said Asher needs a good influence like me," I say as I recap what happened yesterday.

"STOP! Do NOT read into things. You hate each other. Even if you didn't then you still could never think of him in that way. You know that would never work. Now, let's return our focus back to Evan. Do you still think he is cute?"

I try to stay present while I am with Taylor. She is my best friend and my confidant. She knows everything about me and isn't afraid to voice her opinion. Sometimes it can be helpful.

I check my phone while we enjoy our ice cream. I write a text to Asher, but I don't tell Taylor.

Hey. I'm sorry about yesterday... I'm not used to us having a normal conversation and I think I was a little overdramatic...

I hear Taylor rambling on, "So, then he was all like, 'I'm sorry I didn't see you there'. I was like, 'How can you not see me?'" She begins laughing.

I start laughing. I have no idea what we are laughing about, but I fake it. Then I feel my phone ding.

Yeah idk why I even tried. I left because I can't stand to be in the same room as u

- Asher

I sigh. This. This is exactly why we can't get along. This is why Taylor told me to stop reading into things. We cannot be friends.

Taylor grabs my phone and gasps. "You were texting him? Did you even listen to my story?"

I mutter, "No...Sorry."

"Here. Take your phone back before I send a nasty reply," Taylor says.

I chuckle. She isn't kidding. I know she will send him a reply in a heartbeat.

"So, when do you finish school?"

"I have just a few days left of classes then I graduate in December," I say.

"Wow that's close! Are you excited?" she asks.

"Yes. When I reflect on my time in college, I can remember being a freshman. I was hoping to graduate already. Now, here I am. It has flown by."

I try to think of a reply to Asher. Should I reply to him? Maybe I could send a nice reply then he will be nice? Oh, who am I kidding? Asher is always mean.

I stare out the window of the little ice creamshop while I halfway listen to Taylor and halfway think of forgetting aboutAsher. I shouldn't let him bother me this much.
