Ahn Sunhwa's family came to visit three days into staying with the Han family.
They spent their nights at a nearby hotel, and their days in the small apartment with their daughter.
Her younger sister and parents were the only ones who would come. Her brother promised to come whenever he got the chance in the next few weeks.
Sunny didn't want to see him. The girl could already picture his devastated face each time that he looked at her. It was sorrowful and full of regret. Just like Han Seojun, he carried the burden of not being able to protect her.
After about a week, her family headed home. She was left on her own for most of the day, or with Seojun's mother.
They got quite close, and were able to read each other's feelings very rapidly. They would cook together in silence, making small remarks here and there. They would sit alongside the couch, and Sunny would braid the hair of the older woman.
Gowoon and Seojun would come home at night, and the three would play board games. Sometimes the mother would join as well.
However, it felt as though they were all walking on eggshells. Hesitant to break open the flood of tears being held back by a firm wall in her mind.
Sunhwa's demeanor grew stronger and more determined every day, until finally one day she locked herself in her room.
Seojun knocked on the door in an attempt to say good night before bed.
There was no answer, and the male knocked again urgently. He raised his voice as he called her name for the second time. "Sun? You okay?"
"Yeah, let me unlock the door."
Her voice was soft as she answered, but the brunette still sounded confident as she turned the handle and let him in.
Before she could even look up at his face, he tugged her into his chest.
Hand pressing her face gently onto him, she submitted. Wrapping her arms around his waist and breathing in the familiarity, she got the courage to speak up.
"I've been working on an idea all day."
"My mom said you haven't ate since last night, Sunhwa." Seojun rested his chin on the top of her head, his words dripping with disappointment.
