Morning practices were the worst, especially when everyone is somber and loopy on exhaustion. However today, it was the perfect way to slip past emotional barriers.
I strolled into the locker room with Bad, already having assured him I could handle the situation.
It wasn't a surprise to find Dream already in his area, he was always coming in early to work extra hard. I spied around and sure enough, Sapnap was running late per usual.
After placing my things by Bad and I's area, I sauntered over and gave him a big pat on the shoulder. "Hey Dreamie, mind if we have a little chat?"
He turned with a confused look, clearly surprised it was me of all people calling him 'dreamie'.
"Uh, sure, meet me on the pool deck." I nodded, making my way out.
It had taken a few days of stalking Dream's practice routines to figure out when people wouldn't be around and be able to hold a private chat.
I plopped down on a set of bleachers near the far side of the pool. If anyone else were to appear, it would be in their best interest to keep continuous distance. Even though both Dream made some dick moves, he respected his want to keep himself closeted. I'd had first-hand experience with that fear.
"Uh- what did you need?" I looked up to see Dream's clear confusion on such a precise location. Probably thought I was gonna murder him.
"Okay, I'd like to get straight to the point. You and George need to figure it out already." He stared at me stunned, giving me a how-and-why-do-you-know-about-this face. "I've already seen George's side, you guys are in a pretty messy situation right now. And I am going to help you fix this."
"Well if you know his side, then I think it's pretty obvious he's moved on. Why should I continue fighting?"
I gave him an incredulous look, before it clicked that this man basically had no intel.
I sighed, before dropping my voice to a softer, more sincere tone. "Look, I can easily tell you two are on two completely separate parts of the world right now. But, judging from what I've heard, you don't really understand how to interpret and accept your feelings-"
"Oh, I accept them. In fact, it was Poppy who helped me come to terms with it." My eyes widened before I frowned.
"So... you've officially moved on and accepted feelings for Poppy?"
"Wha-? No, I've accepted that I like George. But he doesn't like me, so it's kind of lose-lose."
I watched his eyes begin to cloud over as he spoke it out. He had truly lost hope in fixing his relationship with George.
I stood and slapped my hands onto his shoulders, forcing him to meet my gaze. It effectively snapped him out of his daze while also startling the poor man.
"I'm gonna tell you what you need to do, and why you need to do it. No questions until the end or I swear I'll slap you." I inhaled deeply before continuing.
"I was originally gonna go on a tangent about why it's okay to be gay and blah blah blah, but you've already gotten there on your own. Congrats. Now you have to put that into play and actually converse with George. I've not gonna be here and explain his half of the story because that is his shit to work through with you. I'm here to tell you not to give up, and to call that son-of-a-bitch to finally clear it up."
I took a breath before continuing at a much more relaxed tone. "Please, Dream. It's eating you both up and I swear on Bad's love that I'm not lying. Talk to him. Meet with him. If nothing comes of it, at least you'll be able to understand and comprehend each other's feelings. Give it a try, alright?"
