Shinobu never truly had trouble with her partner. While Shinobu might never have given Giyuu the credit he truly deserved, the Flower Hashira truly did appreciate the Water Hashira for his efforts. Shinobu is a very observant demon slayer, no, person. She notices the way Giyuu's hand slightly shakes when someone questions him too much(The way he would get so overwhelmed and the way he would immediately apologize and try to pry them off so gently. That was another thing she noticed. He was so gentle with civilians.) or the way he pauses at the sight of the fallen child soldiers that were left to rot on the forest floor. Shinobu knew he had a large heart, a very compassionate and delicate one.

But out of all her observations, there was one incident that particularly stuck with her.

It was just a regular day in this world of man-eating demons and breath-users when the two of them had come across a family of three. A single father, an elder daughter who looked around 16 or 14, and younger son who looked to be about 12.

The father was very angry and just about to hit his daughter for god knows what reason. But before he could, Shinobu felt a gust of wind from beside her and suddenly Giyuu was there, behind the father with hardened eyes. Shinobu was taken back by the pure rage emitting from this introverted figure. In all of her years, she had never seen Giyuu so angry.

"Put your hand down."

The statement might as well have been a wolf's guttural growl.

The father was startled and stared at him, quietly putting it down fearfully.

Just then, Shinobu had noticed how banged up these children were. As a medic, it was against her code to not treat a patient but just as she was about to help the poor souls-

"Can't you see the damage you have done to your children?!" The father stared at his feet but the Water Pillar was just not having it, "Look at me when speaking you coward. Or have you no backbone at all?!" Giyuu dug his knee into the older man, shoving him to the floor.

"Get out of my sight, you waste of space. To hell with you." Giyuu gritted his teeth as the elder man nervously nodded his head in terror, turning away and running from him.

The Flower Hashira had never seen Giyuu show such a display of anger, so when she asked him why he was so angry he simply responded "I have been in that situation before."

And for the first time, Shinobu had nothing to say in response.

When Sabito, Makomo, Urukodaki, and Giyuu were training with each other:

Ah yes, it was one of those days.

The squad was groaning at the idea of having to buy groceries from the village nearby because it meant having to run back and forth between the house and the village after a particularly rough day of training.

As they made their way to the village, they had come across a few houses hear and there, nothing too unusual. That was, until they heard yelling.

They had come across the exact same situation Giyuu later had experienced with Shinobu. A man in his late thirties, maybe early forties was yelling a young girl and boy, beating them badly.

Makomo covered her mouth, gasping at the sight. Just as Sabito and Urukodaki were about to interfere, they stopped dead in their tracks due to the menacing presence coming from within Giyuu. Now, Giyuu had always been a very shy boy which was why it was shocking to Urukodaki just how much anger he smelt coming from within this normally shy and timid boy. Sabito paused to, staring at his best friend's seething aura, which was dripping with boiling, unkept rage.

Giyuu walked up to that man, slowly, almost like a predator waiting for their prey to slip up once. Sabito had to admit, it was terrifying.

Just as the old man was about to kick the crying girl, Giyuu held the man's leg and twisted it, hard. The crack of his bones audible to the area. He let out a bloodcurdling scream.

Giyuu grinned maniacally "Oh-ho-ho, now look whos screaming."

Tears were running down the old man's face as he looked away "Pathetic. Screaming for help the moment you get hurt.

Giyuu roared "JUST TAKE A LOOK AT YOUR CHILDREN?! LOOK AT THE DAMAGE THAT HAS BEEN DONE! Does that make you proud, huh?! HUH?! You wanna answer that you sick bastard?! LOOK AT ME WHEN IM TALKING TO YOU!"

The Elder man fearfully directed his gaze towards the younger boy "Yes. That's right. Your lucky my sensei is here or you would be dead."

Promptly, the future Water pillar thrashed the mans legged into the ground "NOW GET OUT OF MY SIGHT! If I ever see you here again, I'll torture you till you bleed out, understand?!"

The father had tears of pain streaming down his face.

Giyuu  growled "Answer me."

"Y-yes" A quiet stutter was heard.

"Good, now never come here again."

Just saying, I do not own Demon Slayer or any of its characters in any way.

Here, lemme clear this up a little. This is an AU that Giyuu's father had been sbusing him and Tsutako for awhile and no one was truly their to save them until their father had finally died alongside their mother due to an illness. This is why Giyuu opposes abuse in any way very strongly.

Sincerely,

Author-chan!
