I sat on the edge of the rooftop looking at the city trying to take my mind off of what I'd just learned.

"I knew I'd find you out here" a familiar voice said. I turned to see my dad standing there with a smile. "When you were a kid every time you got upset you would come up here" he said.

I ignored him, watching my feet kick back and forwards.

"The silent treatment huh? it's been a while. The last time you did this was when I told you, you couldn't go to Taylor Swift's CD signing with MJ" he said proudly.

"Olivia Rodrigo" I said sternly.

"What was that?" my dad questioned pretending to be confused at the statement.

"It wasn't a Taylor CD signing, it was Olivia Rodrigo, but you already knew that didn't you?" I said annoyed that he made me speak to him like he always did.

"Works every time" he said in a sing song voice. He came and sat beside me on the ledge. "Talk to me kid, what's bothering you?" he asked seriously.

"EVERYTHING! EVERYTHING'S BOTHERING ME!" I screamed bursting into tears of frustration. My dad's face rose with concern. "I- I'm sorry.. it's just everything is changing. One of my best friend's suddenly a super hero and now I'm supposed to be what? his sidekick?!" I let out, taking a deep breath after. "It just feels... It feels like the world is spinning and I can't pause, I can't blink, and I cannot- I cannot breathe" I continue. I look up at him and with my eyes filled with tears "and I miss her.....and I hate her for what she did.....what is the point of helping people if I couldn't even save my own mom" I finished.

"Oh my god Y/N, what happened to your mother was not your fault" he said while hugging me.

"It was nobody's fault and as much as I wish we could change what happened, we can't" he uttered. He wiped the tear that he thought I didn't see from his eyes. "But you can change what happens now, to other families, and other people who need saving....It's your choice, I can't make you" he finishes.

"I'll do it" I say.

"Great" he replies.

"How much convincing did it take uncle Tony for you to even let me do this ?" I questioned while chuckling to break the silence.

"A hell of a lot" he said letting out a chuckle. "But I trust you, plus you've been trained by the best" he said crossing his arms proudly.

"Yeah auntie Nat is the best" I joked. He gave me a very displeased look. "I'm kidding!" I said giggling and throwing my hands up in the air. "I love you dad" I said seriously.

"I love you too kiddo, now go make me proud" he said getting up. "Also your uncle Buck is downstairs, so go speak before you leave" he stated walking to the stairs door.

"Will do, and dad?" I said right before he walked out.

"Yeah?" he responded.

"I may or may not have gotten detention Monday" I stated.

He didn't respond he shut the door and walked back into the tower. I smiled to myself while continuing to look over the city.
