Reese looked at their wristwatch, worry pronounced in their posture as they stood near the front door of their house, waiting for their dear little sister.

Now, where did she go? She would've been here since three.

They pulled out their phone and dialed their sister which proceeded straight into voice mail, emitting an anxious sigh. They ruffled their short brown hair, worry doubling in their heart as time passed by. They fetched herself a glass of water, trying to calm down as they finally heard a knock on the front door, immediately placing the glass down the sink.

Reese immediately went to the door to see their little sister, Aurora in her school uniform with a skeptical smile laced on her lips. "Where have you been, young lady? It's already five. Did you know how worried I am, Rory?"

Aurora scratched her nape as she looked away, ashamed for making her older sibling worry about her late arrival. "I'm sorry, Ray. I met my middle school friend in dismissal and we might or might not get carried away, talking about our high school life. Oh, and she gave me this." She held up a familiar video game. It was Resident Evil Village, the game her workmates have been talking about ever since Capcom released it on May 7, 2021.

Worry began to subside in Reese's system, a chuckle escaping from their lips as they remembered that Aurora has been on a hunt to find a copy of the game since its release. Ruffling their little sister's hair, a smile came across Reese's lips as they spoke up, amusement laced in her voice. "Alright, alright. You're off the hook, for now. Come on, I made your favorite, and since tomorrow is my day off, let's hang out. What do you say, princess?"

Happiness gleamed in Aurora's eyes as she spoke up, barely containing her excitement for tomorrow's upcoming events. She placed the game and her backpack down on the couch. "Really? But I thought—"

"Well, I've been spending my time defending my clients lately, so I thought of filing a month-long day off to spend time with you." Reese then spared their sister a look and saw the latter's blank expression. "What's wrong? Don't you like it?"

Snapping out of her thought, Aurora's eyes immediately widened as she waved her hands, dismissing what her sibling said. "T-That's not what I intended to say. It's just... I got used to being alone in the house. I missed spending time with you."

It's been a month since Aurora and Reese spend time with each other since the former was held back by her exams and the latter was been busy with their job as a lawyer along with their part-time job in a café.

Tears then streamed down Aurora's features as she immediately tackled her sibling into an embrace, burying her face in the crook of the latter's neck, her arms loosely wrapping themselves around the latter's neck. Reese let their sister sob her heart out as they wrapped their arms around the younger girl's waist, securely pulling the latter against them.

"It's okay, Rory. I'm here now. I'm sorry if we don't hang out much often, but I'm here now...", Reese softly whispered, placing a kiss on the latter's forehead as they gently drew circles on their sister's back.

"You're so annoying, you know that? You just made me cry because of your unwise decision of picking law as your major.", Aurora groggily said, subtly muffled as she took a deep breath, new fresh tears instantly forming in her eyes.

"I know, princess."
