Today is like any normal day. I get up, do my morning routine, then head back to my room. But today was a little different.

I walk over a take a seat next to Racheal, my best friend. We always sit next to each other. Nothing can seperate us.

"Hey!" Racheal said.

"Hey." I replied. I poured a bowl of cereal and milk.

"You're not going to eat the eggs?"

I looked over at the bowl of eggs, "Nah. We have them all the time. I want something different."

"But they're so good!"

"Eh, I guess."

She looked at me like I was crazy.

"I'm just kidding!" I put my hands up.

"Oh, I thought you were serious."

We laughed. We always joked like this. I may not have any other friends but I survived 6 years in here with only her. I think i'm okay.

We talked some more. Nothing really different. Just if anyone will get adopted. Probably not. It rarely happens anymore.

I finished my cereal. I got up, "I'm going to head back to my room. I'll see you at dinner."

"Ok, see ya!"

I waved my hand and headed to my room. I just need quiet.

I got into my room and closed the door. I turned around to look at my room.

It's small. There's a little bed in the corner, a desk on the wall, a dresser, and a closet. There is no technology because the orphanage doesn't have enough funds, but i'm ok with that. It gives my a chance to practice my drawings.

I walked over to my desk and opened the drawer. Inside there is a notebook and some pencils, #2 and color. I grabbed the notebook and pencils. I sat on my bed and began to draw. I became better over the years. I decided to draw Racheal. I drew the outline, then I started on the detail. When I finished with the face I started on the hair. She has long and curly hair. It use to be hard for me to draw her hair, but now it's a breeze. I finished and looked at it. When I decided that I was done I started coloring. I colored her hazel eyes and rosy cheeks. I didn't have to color the hair because I did it with the brown pencil.

I was almost finished when Ms.Kelly walked in.

"Hello Anna." She waved.

"Hi." I waved back.

She sat down on the edge of the bed. "What are you drawing?"

I gave her the notebook.

She looked at it for a few minutes. She then handed it back, "Is that Racheal?"

I nodded.

"You're becoming better at drawing."

We sat in silence for a little.

When she finally broke the silence I was so relieved, "So, I have some good news!"

What could it be this time?

"You're being adopted!"

My heart sank. I don't want to be adopted. I hated it. I always got so close to the family. When I thought they would never give me up they send me back.

She must have noticed, "Hey, it's ok. These are good people."

"When?" I asked.

"On Monday."

Two days!

That's not enough time!

"That early?"

"They really want to meet you. They wanted tomorrow but I told them that's too early. So, they settled on Monday."

"I don't know if i'm ready. I literally only got sent back a month ago."

She put her hand on my shoulder, "You'll be fine. No one would ask for a child this early if they are just going to send them back."

"You don't know that."

She sighed, "Just trust me on this one, okay?"

"Okay."

She smiled and gave me a hug. She backed up and got up, "I'll leave you to pack."

With that she left my room, leaving me alone.

I looked around my room. I don't have that much to pack. Saying that I barely have anything.

I sighed and got up. I grabbed my duffle bag and started packing. I packed my clothes first, to make sure I had room, then started to pack my notebooks and pencils. I looked around the room making sure I didn't forget anything. I didn't see anything till I remember the picture.

I put the bag down and walked over to the bed. I then picked up the pillow and grabbed the picture. It was of me and my family before the accident. They were leaving for their trip and my grandma wanted a picture. I asked her for a copy and she put it in a frame.

I started to tear up so I put the picture into the bag before I started to cry. I wiped my eyes and looked at the time. It was 5 o' clock. I better get ready for dinner.

I walked into my bathroom. I brushed my teeth and did mouthwash. I put my toothbrush and mouthwash into the bag once I was done. I looked into the mirror; I looked like a mess. My blonde hair was all over the place, my usually bright blue eyes were red, and I smelled. Horribly.

"I might as well get a shower since I have time."

I got undressed and took a shower. I don't take long showers but today I took a long one. I needed time to think and the warm water helps me. After about an hour I finally got out. I dried myself off and got changed.

I was drying my hair when I walked out of the room and saw Racheal looking inside my notebook.

I ran over to her and grabbed the notebook.

She looked up at me. Her eyes were red and her cheeks were glossy. Was she crying?

She sniffed, "I-Is that me?"

I looked down at the book. It was on the page of her. "Yeah."

"You're really good." She smiled, but that smiled quickly faded and was filled with sadness.

I sat down next to her. I didn't do anything for a little. Then I leaned over and gave her a hug.

"I'm going to miss you." I said.

"I'm going to miss you too." That's when the tears came. They came like a river and wouldn't stop. I let her cry.

When she finally stopped I let go of her. She looked at me and I looked back.

"You know how we were talking about who was going to get adopted?" She asked.

I nodded.

"Well, I guess neither of us thought it was going to be you."

I wiped my eyes. I can't let her see me cry. I have to stay strong for her.

"I'm happy for you, don't think i'm not, but I wish we had more time. You just came back from an adoption not only a month ago. Now you're leaving again for another month."

"I thought the same thing when Ms.Kelly came in here and told me."

She looked down.

We sat in silence. She then got up.

"Well, I better get going. I'll see you at dinner."

I got up. "Okay. Don't let them see you upset. You know how extra they can be."

She nodded. I gave her a hug. I'm going to miss her so much.

I let go and she walked out of the room.

You want to know the hardest part about leaving?

It's having to say goodbye.
