I slowly opened my eyes.

Anthony was next to my bed. He was sitting on a chair holding my hand with the both of his. I look up at his face. His eyes are red and glassy. Was he crying?

I look past him and I see Ian. Pacing back and forth. His mouth is moving so he's talking. Why can't I hear him?

I take a look around the room. It isn't any room in the house. It sorta looks like...

I shoot my eyes open.

I'm in a hospital.

Anthony saw that I was awake. "Anna? Anna! You're awake!"

Ian stopped pacing and ran over. "Anna!"

"Why am I in the hospital?" I asked.

"You took a hard fall to the head." Ian replied. Looking at Anthony angrily.

I looked over at Anthony. He's hanging his head down and is crying even more. "I'm sorry. I just keep screwing up! I can't do anything right!"

That's when I remember.

I was running and Anthony ran into me. Did he think that he caused this?

"It wasn't you."

"Anna, don't be ridiculous! You remember what happened! I ran into you, then you fell and cracked your head opened!"

"I was like that before you ran into me."

They looked at me, confused.

"Remeber when you asked what took me so long and I said that it was my hair? I lied. I was wiping off the blood from my hair and my head. There was a small opening all ready. That's why I was dizzy."

Ian shook his head. "Why didn't you tell us?"

"I thought it was minor! I didn't realize it was a big deal!"

"Anna calm down. You can't get angry." Anthony said, soothingly.

Ian ran to the doorway. "NURSE! SHE'S AWAKE!"

"Why?" I asked.

"They will have to put you back to sleep. We don't want that. We want to talk to you." Anthony replied.

I was about to say something when the the people walked in. A man and a women. Probably the doctor and nurse.

"How long ago did she wake up?" The doctor asked while checking the equipment that is attached to me.

"About 5 minutes ago." Ian answered.

"Okay. How do you feel?" The doctor was looking at me now.

"I feel fine." I replied. I was totally honest. It barely hurt.

"Are you able to think clearly?"

"A little."

"Good."

"Why are you asking all these questions?"

"It's to make sure you don't have anything major. All you have is a minor concussion. Nothing too serious."

"How long was I out?"

"About 3 days."

"3 days!"

"That isn't that bad. Most people are out for more than that."

How is that suppose to make me feel better?

"Can I ask you a question?" Anthony asked.

"You already did." I laughed.

"Haha. Very funny. But this is serious."

"Okay what is it."

"I saw them this morning and when the doctor was hooking up the equipment. But," he rolled up my sleeve and pointed at the scars, "what are these?"

I knew he was going to ask but why in front of everybody? Was that really needed?

The doctor seemed to take that as his cue, saying, "We'll check back in a few." Him and the nurse left.

"Anna." He insisted.

I bit my lip. "I don't want to talk about it..."

I looked at Ian and back to Anthony. He knew what I meant. But he didn't seem to care.

"He deserves to know as much as I do."

Ian looked hurt. I didn't mean to hurt the guy.

"Th-They are from the orphanage. I was suffering depression. I was seeing a therapist but it didn't help. I started to cut myself. It was really bad the one time that I was hospitalized."

I looked down at the bed. Not wanting to look at any fo their faces. I wouldn't be able to handle it.

Anthony put my arm down. Everything was quiet. The only sound was the rapid beeping of the heart monitor.

Anthony got up. I was expecting him to leave the room, but he did the exact opposite. He got in the bed with me and gave me a bear hug.

"Never again will you have to go back there and suffer." He said.

"Are you sure? You only had me for a day!"

"We've been through a lot of shit! Why wouldn't we keep you!"

"Exactly my point. I just cause more trouble. Your lives were better without me."

After about a minute the doctor popped back in, saying, "I'm sorry to ruin the moment but she has to get some sleep, if she wants to go home tomorrow."

"She can sleep like this." Anthony said.

"Actually no I can't." I looked over at Ian. "Not without you too."

Ian smiled. I hope that makes up for me not wanting to tell him.

He ran over to the other side and got on the bed with me.

"Good thing the bed is huge. It might have not been able to fit your fat ass!" Anthony joked, poking at Ian.

"Oh yeah! Well, you..." Ian didn't know what to say.

"You have nothing to say."

Ian gave a sad face. We laughed.

"Alright, let's go to sleep so we can get out of here."

I closed my eyes and tried to go to sleep. I may have only known these guys for only a little bit, but I love them. This is the best family I could have.

This is not the last chapter don't worry. I'm not that kind of person who only writes 2 chapters a book. I just want to let you guys know that they decide to adopt her. Thats mostly what this chapter was about. Also about the depression but that will be talked more about in the next chapter.
