The next day went by so fast. I tried to make the day last but it's hard when your supposed to get adopted the next day.
I woke up to Ms.Kelly shaking me awake. I slept through my alarm. It wasn't my fault I couldn't sleep.
I did my daily morning routine. Taking a shower, brushing my teeth, brushing my hair, and all that stuff.
By the time I was done Ms.Kelly walked into my room again, after leaving before to allow me to get ready.
"Are you ready? They have been waiting patiently."
I nodded and picked up my bag. I gave my room one last look before following Ms.Kelly out the door.
"Don't worry Anna, they are nice people. You'll be just fine."
I nodded. How does she know? They could be acting.
We reached the room and it wasn't what I was expecting. There were two men sitting at the table. Young men. One of them were tall. He had dark brown hair and brown eyes. The other one is short and has dark brown hair and blue eyes. They looked so immature.
"Thanks for waiting."
"No problem." The tall one answered.
Ms.Kelly looked at me, "This is Anna, Anna this is Mr.Padilla and Mr.Hecox."
"Just call me Anthony." The tall one said.
"And call me Ian." The shorter one said.
I nodded.
"Well, are you all ready?" Ms.Kelly asked the one named Anthony.
"Yup." He replied.
"Well, then you can go." She bent down and gave me a hug. "I'll miss you."
She let go and smiled. I gave a little smile back.
Anthony looked at me, "You ready."
I nodded.
"Then lets go."
We walked out of the building. Outside there was a blue car. I'm guessing it's their car.
I turned around to look at the orphanage for the last time before I get to see it for another month. I'm going to miss this place.
When I turned around they were looking at me. They must have been waiting.
Once they realized I was ready, they walked to the car. Ian got into the driver's seat and Anthony was in the back. I guess he was letting me in the front. I got in the passenger seat.
When I got my seatbelt on, Ian started the car and put on a pair of sunglasses.
We sat in silence for a little until Anthony spoke, "So, Anna. When we get to the house we're just going to show you around the house. Sound good?"
"Yeah." I replied.
"Okay."
Silence. It was so awkward. I was about to go crazy when Ian finally said something. "How long have you been in the orphanage?"
"Um, six years."
"What?! Are you serious?" Anthony yelled.
"Why would she lie about that?" Ian said sarcastically.
Anthony punched him, "You know what I meant!"
"Yo! I'm driving here! You want to get into an accident on the first day!"
They laughed. I smiled but hid it.
Once it quiet down Anthony asked, "Why were you there?"
I didn't answer and looked out the window. I hated it when people asked me that question. It always brought up the memory of the news report and my grandma telling me. How I didn't eat or moved from my room. I may have been only eight but I understood every word.
