Prologue

(14-year-old Gojo POV)

Finally! I was on my first mission by myself! Thank goodness, everyone else was so slow.

I'm tracking a trail of cursed energy to find my target that had previously slipped away from me.

I'm getting closer, it's got to be around this corner!

I turned a corner and ran down the dark ally. I could feel it, it was so close! I then heard a cry of distress up ahead.

Crap!

When I found the curse there was no one there. The ugly disgrace with its many eyes turned to me. There were no signs it had eaten anyone, so where did the cry come from?

I ignored the thought for now. I rubbed my head in frustration. "Ok, let's get this over with," I said getting into position.

The cry came again. I realized it was too high-pitched to be an adult. The curse took one step closer to me, and that's when I saw the poor infant wrapped in a blanket in a box.

I sighed. "Great, I can't go all out without hitting the thing. I was hoping I could have some fun."

The curse leaped into the air ready to hit me. With a single swish of my fingers, the curse stopped in midair. As I walked past it, it split in half, spraying purple blood on me.

I squatted down and looked in the box with the infant. It was an old wet box, the blanket was slightly wet from the box, and the child was crying constantly.

It was waving its hands around in distress. I picked it up and noticed it had a weird mark on its left hand. The mark looked like (choose any marking you want).

I contemplated taking it back with me. The thing was just sitting in a box! Who would do that? If I take it back I'll have to explain what happened, and I hate having to explain things to people. Maybe I could put it at Yaga's door and make him think someone left it there?

I ended up taking it home. I decided I'd just explain everything.

And I never regretted taking the child...
