(A/n) I was listening to this part of the time I wrote this chap. Mighty fine playlist👌

I got into a fighting stance. The curse now had legs, and that didn't make our situation any better.

Itadori laughed. "Guess you're saying it's easier to move around stripped down to your underwear," he said jokingly.

I don't understand how he can still make jokes when he's literally missing a hand. He can't use cursed energy either, so he can't do much...

The curse launched another ball of energy at us so fast I didn't have time to react. We were slammed into the wall as it charged up another attack.

It's so fast! I don't have time to do anything.

"Crystal armor!" I yelled, hugging the pink-haired boy to protect him.

The blast hit my back, sending waves of pain throughout my body. The wall broke, and we were flung onto a bridge in a large, dimly lit room. I slid across the concrete, one of my legs hanging off the bridge, and my armor was broken.

I groaned in pain as I sat up to see the cursed spirit coming closer and Itadori lying on the floor. The curse prepared for another attack.

"Itadori!" I yelled.

His eyes shot open, and he quickly stood up and ran in front of me. He outstretched his one hand as if it could stop the ball of energy.

The force of the cursed energy was so strong, I could barely open my eyes. I forced myself up, putting my hands in front of my face. I could see Itadori's fingertips slowly disintegrating as he yelled through the pain.

He's going to die! We both are!

I put my arms around his waist and leaned my head against his back. "I'M SORRY, ITADORI! I'M SORRY YOU GOT DRAGGED INTO THIS! I'M SO SORRY I COULDN'T PROTECT YOU!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. "JUST PLEASE DON'T DIIIIIEEEE!"

The ball exploded. It was so bright. There was pain... so much pain. But all could see was Itadori in front of me.

I smiled. "I'm glad we were friends, Itadori Yuji."

Silence...

"I was so proud," I heard a voice like Itadori's say.

I opened my eyes. I couldn't move; I couldn't feel anything. I looked down at my arms. They were there, thankfully, but my left arm was so bloody it looked as if there was no skin left. Itadori was beside me, looking distantly at the ground.

"I thought I was really strong," he said. "I thought I was strong enough that I could choose when and how I die. But I'm not."

Hot tears rolled down my face. "I'm sorry," I whispered. My voice was hoarse. I leaned my head on and grabbed his hand lightly, careful not to touch his half missing fingers.

"I'm weak," I whispered. "I couldn't protect you, and I broke a promise..."

"No, I'm the weak one... I'm way too weak!" He stood up. "I don't wanna die! I don't want you to die!" He covered his face with his arms. "But we are gonna die! No way, not like this. No." He started to cry.

I sat there and watched my friend have a total breakdown. I had to stay strong, but all I wanted to do was cry till my eyes went dry. I stood up, wobbling, and walked to Itadori. I put my hand on his shoulder.

"But you are strong," I whispered in his ear.

His arms fell to his side, and he stood silent. Suddenly his fist started to glow a fiery red. The curse laughed as Itadori ran at it. It caught his fist, but the ground below rumbled and cracked.
