You stood in the clearing across from Shinso, hands on your hips. He narrowed his eyes at your casual stance.

"Are we going to start?" You questioned. You both had decided that sparring with each other physically would be a good way to train for the exams, as you had no idea what you would actually be doing. Practicing fighting was never a bad idea, especially since you would have to physically fight opponents in the future anyway.

You had originally planned to work on your Quirk with Shinso, however your encounter with Hawks left you paranoid and cautious in revealing your actual Quirk to someone else. You had no idea if Hawks could figure out your civilian identity and you did not want to underestimate him and his own resources.

Shinso lunged at you, initiating the fight. You began exchanging blows in equal zeal. As someone who had grown up fighting, you had decided to hold back on the fellow fourteen year old, as any normal fourteen year old should be able to fight as well as you do. And in Japan, that was what you were - a normal fourteen year old. With zero mafia connections and absolutely no connections to underground arena fights. You were also a big Hawks fan.

Growing tired of the rally of hits you were creating with Shinso, you swiftly kicked your leg against Shinso's, tripping him. You climbed on top of him and straddled him, keeping his hands together over his head. He jerked up in an attempt to loosen your hold on him, but it was a wasted effort.

"My, my what a position to find yourself in," You said smirking down at him. Mari is rubbing off on me too much.

"G-get off!" Shinso said, trying to use his Quirk.

You didn't reply, knowing that was how his Quirk would work. You did, however, respect his wishes and stood up from your position.

"What was that?" Shinso asked bluntly.

You shrugged your shoulders. "I have experience with combat training."

"You...why did you just let those kids bully you then?"

"They aren't worth my time or my effort. I don't want to draw too much attention to myself, and fighting back would only lead to them fearing me."

"Like they do with me? For my 'villainous' Quirk?"

You had never seen Shinso look more vulnerable in your entire experience of knowing him. Your heart ached, seeing the pain reflected on his face. It looked too close to your own facial expressions in the past. You decided to do the most unexpected thing. You laughed.

"You crack me up, Shinso," You said, wiping a tear from your eye. "Please, enlighten me how your Quirk is "villainous.'"

"All of my life...that's the only thing people have told me when they found out about my Quirk."

"Don't listen to those monkeys, they assume I'm Quirkless just because I haven't revealed my Quirk to them," You advised him. "Besides, I think your Quirk would be extremely helpful in any situation - whether being a villain or a hero. It is a Quirk and your Quirk does not define you. It is your own actions and morals that define who you become."

Shinso did not speak for a long time afterwards, but you did not mind. You had both begun the journey out of the forest, but it was in complete silence as you allowed Shinso time to think about what you had told him. You hoped that your words gave him more encouragement than what he had before, as his expression and words struck a chord with you. People really are too careless with their words and thoughts.

Before you knew it, you were back in the park, which was full of children playing. Seeing that it was approaching dusk and you had a fight to prepare for, you turned your attention back to Shinso.
