"You do realize that if you join UA you'll have to follow the law, right?"
"Pfft piece of cake for a law-abiding citizen like me!"
In which the heiress of one of the most influential mafia families decides to take the UA entrance exam because she's...
"You know, Campbell's soup really hits the spot!" Mari said, moaning at the taste.
You scowled at her. "Why are you always so lewd? Can't you see I'm trying to eat soup?"
"It comes with the job," Mari responded, sending you a wink.
In truth, you did not mind Mari's antics. Being a prominent member of a Mafia family, you were no stranger to concepts of women using their sexuality as a way to have benefits. Your family was involved in prostitution, however, all those involved were willing and gave full consent to what they did. The minute someone did not want to engage in a sexual act, your family would step in and stop all further actions. It was one of the only things you thought positively about your family.
If Mari wanted to earn cash by being a stripper, you fully supported it, seeing that she was also funding her own college education. You just wish she didn't have to work so hard just to have an education.
A frown settled on your face.
"What's with that frowny face, cutie?" Mari asked noticing the change in my mood.
"Mari, do you think I was wrong in leaving my family?" You asked bluntly.
Mari sighed in exasperation. "You're thinking of my living situation, aren't you?"
You nodded your head, looking down.
"Every living situation is different. I was beat senseless for having a "useless" Quirk for a Ryuzaki and you got beat senseless in the name of preparing yourself for heirship. In the end, both were excuses just to beat us up, no?"
You looked up at Mari, eyes full of unexpressed emotions. You had never been good with stating your feelings, but Mari's words brought them to the surface.
"Sometimes I completely forget you're fourteen," Mari said, frowning. "At your age, I was thinking of what boy I wanted to take on a date, not staying up until the crack of dawn to beat up criminals in an underground dump, with a clown who shouldn't even be in a twenty foot radius of you."
"Actually I'm pretty sure he's supposed to be forty feet away from any child," You cut in. She gave you a pointed look.
"My point is that I don't think you were wrong with leaving your family. When I was growing up my family had zero expectations for me and I'm struggling to make ends meet, but at least I have some happiness in my life. Your family piled on stones of pressure on you from a very early age, and while you would end up in a very powerful and influential position, I don't think you would be very happy."
Tears gathered in your eyes, but they did not fall.
"Mari, thank you for everything," You said, feeling complete and utter love for your cousin.
Mari jumped out of her seat and immediately brought you into a tight hug. "Aw~~~My baby cousin is just the cutest!"
"G-get off!" You shouted in vain, flustered.
