House Dimintrescu was livelier than ever. Guests filled the halls with slight chatter, and the soft clinking of wine glasses ring throughout the dining room. My Lady tasked me with management as the head maid of Dimintrescu. I was to watch the other maids for mistakes and bring them down to the cellar.

I kept a watchful eye, not only to the other maids, but to the guests as well. My eyes lingered around the 4 lords and Mother Miranda. They were intimidating as a group. Lady Beneviento catches my eye, the calmest of the five. She was always my favorite. I adored her calm atmosphere, although Lady Angie is the loudest out of the lords.

"Yes, of course; these maids not only keep my house in perfect condition, they also make for perfect meals. Of course, only if they misbehave." Lady Dimintrescu turned her head and met my eyes, in which I nodded at her, then I turned and continued observing the rest of the women in tonight's service. I couldn't help but to continue eavesdropping on the Lords' conversation.

"What do ya care for some lousy women keeping your house clean and doing your dirty work, don't your daughters already eat up that role," sneered Lord Heisenberg, waving his wine glass around in Lady Dimintrescu's face.

"As if you would know anything about cleanliness Heisenberg. Your entire being stinks up this room with smoke and schmuck, unlike myself, a lady."

"Oh--Ooh- A maid would sound nice at our house. They'll keep us organized-- maybe service us food." Giddied out Lady Angie. She was neatly tucked in Lady Beneviento's left arm. The service was going nicely; all guests were engaged in the leisure and wine.

"Maid would mak-make m-CRASH" Lord Moreau was cut off by a loud crash in the centre of the dining hall. My eyes are immediately drawn towards the sound, as well as the other guest's and maid's eyes. I act quickly, going to the clumsy maid while Lady Dimintrescu addresses the matter. My face turns to a frown at the mess.

"I do apologize for the inconvenience of my clumsy maid. Please do not mind the mess and carry on with your leisure, House Dimintrescu apologizes." She smiles charmingly at the collection, as I head straight for the maid, stepping over the broken glasses and grabbing her arm. The room fills with chatter once more, and the lords continue in conversation.

"Clean this mess, and fill more glasses quickly." I order to the ladies staring at the mess. They move after hearing my tone, and I start dragging the maid to the cellar before I hear Lady Dimintrescu's voice calling out to me. "Head maid, leave that clumsy wretch for another one of my maids. I need you here, now." My heart pounded, was she going to yell at me for the avoidable accident? Worse, would she send me down to the cellar as well?

"Yes, my lady." I hand the girl to another one of the maids and mouth the word 'cellar' to her. She quickly leaves, with the clumsy maid in hand. As the other maids bustle around, cleaning the mess and refilling glasses, I walk towards Lady Dimintrescu and the other Lords along with Mother Miranda, my heart stuttering and an upset feeling fills my stomach. Their eyes fall onto me. "I expect you to be in perfect behavior as always head maid. From now on, you will be as a Beneviento servant, no longer one of Dimintrescu's. One of my best maid's in your care Donna and Angie Beneviento, along with the best service a lord could expect. Pack your things maid, you will not be returning."

I bow my head before looking up, "Yes, Lady Dimintrescu." Lady Angie meets my eye, and I think just for a second, that Lady Beneviento keeps her eye contact with me as well through her veil.

"Ooh-- a maid for our house, how exciting." says Lady Angie.

"Of course, see to this as a gift for House Beneviento, only the finest maid of course. One of my many acts of kindness." An aura of conceit surrounds Lady Dimintrescu.

"Many acts of kindness my ass, why don't ya go find someone else to believe your egotism woman." The Lords return to themselves as I head towards the maid's sleeping quarters. I couldn't help but feel for a split second, a pair of eyes following my figure as a walk towards my intended destination.

Going to House Beneviento? How strange would that be, would I finally be able to see under the veil, Lady Donna wears? I'm not certain how I feel, I feel shocked that Lady Dimintrescu would sacrifice one of her head maids, I also feel strange about serving for the odd duo upholding the crest of Beneviento. Though, a gentle smile climbs onto my face at the thought of serving another lord aside from the sadistic vampire I once served.

The formal celebration ended rather quickly as I assigned another head maid and packed my items. I didn't have a lot of items anyway. I carried a boring brown colored suitcase, holding my clothing and sanitary items, and walked towards the front entrance which was crowded with the departing Lords.

"Here you are, Donna Beneviento. My finest maid, I'll see you off, head maid."

"Thank you, Lady Dimintrescu." I shift my attention to both Lady Benevientos and leave.

--

House Beneviento was always bustling, either through the loud waterfall beating down the cliff, or the slight chatter of Lady Beneviento's unsettling dolls. Unlike the house and the doll, Lady Donna Beneviento herself, was as silent as a mouse. Moving things left and right, dropping scraps of clothing, spare parts, throwing unneeded items in her storage room without a peep.

She's kept her space mainly neat and tidy though the kitchen seems overdue. Rotted meat and vegetables in the fridge, partially opened snacks and cans fill sinks and floors. It's all a mess.

I guess we can start with the trash. I threw away spoiled food and cleaned the fridge thoroughly, prevent future contamination's from infecting the food inside. I cleaned dirty bowls and glasses and silverware. By the time I finished, my new Lady had already retired to her room without a word of my living spaces or room. She and Lady Angie retired to their rooms, leaving me confused and tired.

No warnings or guidance for the unfamiliar House Beneviento, besides a very rough, "Stay outta the basement, Head Maid. Oh-Ooh, you wouldn't want to know what's down there." From Lady Angie; not a word from Lady Donna.

I think it's strange, the difference between the two contrasting personalities of my new Ladies.

Lady Donna and Lady Angie continue the same treatment. Silence on Lady Donna's part and occasional demands from Lady Angie.

I serve breakfast to the both of them, though there are always leftovers when I'm allowed back in the dining room. I have a room on the other side of the second floor from my Ladies' room. I am denied access to the basement, and I finish chores throughout the day and retire to my bedroom after Lady Donna and Lady Angie sleep.

This cycle continues constantly, I wake both my Ladies up, serve them breakfast and leave the room while they eat. I finish my chores, serve lunch, finish more chores, serve dinner, clean, and sleep. Though this is less demanding than my work at Lady Dimintrescu's, it feels rather plain, boring almost.

I haven't seen under Lady Donna's veil yet, I wonder what she's hiding under there. Maybe she insecure of a big nose, or she doesn't have any eyes. Maybe her mouth is stitched shut and that's why she doesn't talk, but then how would she eat? How about big ears and a lazy eye? Or mayb-

"Head Maid!" Screeched Lady Angie in a singsong voice.

"Yes, my Lady?"

"Get us a pair of silver trimmers-- you know- scissors?

"Yes, my Lady. In the storag-"

"In the basement, no more questions, and be quick about it, got it? I don't like waiting."

[A/N] Of course I had written essays and school related materials before, but this is my first attempt in writing a story--besides all those short elementary and upper grade required ones in English class. Please tell me how I have done with either a rating out of 10 or maybe some constructive criticism on what you think might improve my works further. Thank you for making it this far and/or giving me feedback on this book, I appreciate it. :)
