The basement? Going down to the basement just for a pair of shears?

"Move it, head maid."

"Yes, Lady Angie." I move towards the back elevator, heading down to the restricted basement.

--

Unlike the main floor, the basement was silent. Light tapping came from the dripping sink, and an intense buzzing coming from the overhead lights. I searched through the basement for a pair of silver scissors, but my mind kept switching between searching and examining the room. I had to be quick, but how could I find a small pair of scissors in such a large basement floor?

The room I was in connected to several other rooms. It had an unsettling feel, doll parts hanging off the roof, and an odd smell permeates through the air, smelling of sweat and something rotting.

I looked to the room on the left side, and started my search there. I found the source of the dripping. Several of the rooms I looked through, had lockers, all empty. It seemed like a hiding space more than another storage area.

I moved through the darkening hallway for the next room. I'm sure I was taking longer than I was supposed to, but how easy is it finding scissors in such a large area? As I reach the last door, I hear something distant. Like a combination of a cry and a shriek, like a prattle of screams, like-like a baby?

Were the ladies hiding someth-someone down here? Worse, a child, a baby? Oh, poor thing. I rush towards the noise, looking through the rooms I passed in hopes for the source of the sounds. The cries getting louder and louder, reaching my ears before my eyes. It gets worse and worse, the babbles and shrieks blaring through the halls.

I'm so close, I'm certain I'll reach it soon. Why a baby in the depths of the Beneviento grounds? Once I reach the end of the hallway, I move to turn right befor-- oh.

Before-- Before I meet eyes with the source. Not an innocent bundle in front of my eyes, but a grotesque baby-like monster took up the width of the hallway. Moving slowly, but taking large steps, it's screeches booming in and out of my ears. It's face large and distorted, the mouth drooping open towards the group. It's eyes half open, cracked and darkened.

My shriek rivals the monster itself, as it grabs my legs pulling towards it's open and drooling mouth, the sounds of it's screaming gargling through my feet.

"No! Stop, please!" I scream out as it, struggling on the floor and pulling myself away. I try kicking, but my feet only get further into it's disgusting mouth.

I can't get away, please, get this away. My hand reaches something solid: the bottom of a lamp. I grab the base as a support, and pull my self away. I could barely get away before the baby grabs me again and as a last minute solution, I throw the lamp at it.

The grotesque thing falters for a moment before letting out an enraged squeal and lunging for my legs again. I barely had time to get up and away, I reached around the floors again for another thing worth throwing at it.

Please, this can't be the end. Not to this.

I pull at the ground, trying to free myself from it's tight hold on my legs. One last reach, and I feel something else, something sturdy and smooth. A leg?

"Lady Beneviento? Hel-help please!" I plead her.

"Look like you forgot my warning--no wonder you were taking so long." Lady Angie said in a condescending tone. I look up at Lady Beneviento, seeing Lady Angie smiling down at me from her arms.

I wrapped my arms around my Lady's legs and shriek as the monster pulls at my feet again.

"I think that's quite enough." Lady Angie says before a group of dolls slice towards the monster. The grotesque baby lets go and screeches, attempting to cover itself from the attacks.

I quickly got up, and both my Ladies followed me as I move towards the elevator, running away from the monster thing.

--

"Thank you, Lady Angie and Beneviento." I say as silence fills the elevator on its way up.

"Of course, who would service us food, if we didn't."

"Di-Did you make that Lady Beneviento?"

"No, why would I make such a revolting creature." Angie answered. It was strange, no answer from Lady Donna, but silence. There was always leftover food from when the both of them 'ate.' The other dolls didn't have such a mindset like Lady Angie, no speaking from them. Was Lady Donna using Lady Angie to speak? I hardly knew anything about the two, I didn't know anything about the Lords.

"Lady Beneviento,  do you go down there often?"

"Not often, with that thing roaming around the floor." Angie replies again, but with disgust laced in her voice.

"Lady Beneviento, ar-are you using Lady Angie to speak for you? Could you perhaps speak in your own voice?"

"What a broad assumption--mind your own business maid!" Lady Angie screeches at me, confirming my thoughts.

The elevator opens, and both my Ladies get off and move in the direction of their working space. I gues-I guess maybe I could try to somehow make Lady Donna speak. I'd love to hear her voice, I've never heard it, even at House Dimintrescu.

But, if I were to try, I'd have to start with Lady Angie.
