(Cassie)Cassie was smoking as she looked at the dark street, lighted by the yellow street lights.
trees gently dancing with the wind and the smell of coffee from the kitchen were calming her. "is this about texas?" asked Denis as he tried to calm Cassie's anxiety by gently touching and caressing her skin. "uh...uh...I don't know" she exhaled as the smoke of cigarette left her lungs and mixed with the smell of the coffee in the air. "All I know is that...every time...I just leave a mess behind me and run away."
she laid her head on Denis's shoulder as she sighed deeply. "come on...it's not your fault girl...it's fine...you can tell me anything." said Denis as he was worriedly lookingat Cassie and wondering what kind of mess she got herself in again."Uhh...where do I start?" she asked as she gathered herself up and went toward the kitchen to pour some coffee. "do you think your uncle found you?"
said Denis as he could feel the warmth of the fire while he was playing with Cassie's lighter. "he couldn't find me in NY...how could he ever know that I came here."
said Cassie as she handed Denis a cup of coffee. "I don't think that he wants to kill me anymore...he needed to realize by now that I don't want my father's company." she continued. "no Cassie...no that guy probably gave up years ago but you..." he pointed to her chest and took a sip of his coffee. "you need to get your shit together..."
"NY is really messed up and I...I...ok" she sighed. she rubbed her forehead and frowned as the obvious sadness showed itself in her eyes.
"I'm listening." said Denis and smiled as the warmth of his calm eyes took over Cassie's heart."Everything was...you know...normal...I was exactly how I was when you left me..." Denis rolls his eyes and giggles.
"but then I was investigating this case...and...and I don't even know how it happened...I was sleeping with this guy...my new neighbor and he...he turned out the murder."
honestly, cassie didn't hear what she just said. the words just floated out of her mouth like a river, like it wasn't a big deal.
"fuck" said Denis as he couldn't hold back his reaction and his shock through his body; he was literally sweating, he pulled his eyebrows together, and scratched the back of his neck as he was desperately looking for an appropriate response.
"and I...I helped him escape out of town...god...what was I thinking and this dude...the detective..."
"YOU WHAT?" He interrupted Cassie as he was barely breathing, he shrank back and leaned on his seat.
"and then he escaped into the woods...the detective followed him and I..." Cassie finally sat down and covered her face with both her hands. "oh god" she murmured.
"I think...I think I heard a gunshot but...Idk...they just drove me away after that..." she ran her fingers through her hair and rubbed her neck as she bent her head down to hide how broken she was. "I...kept...I kept...asking...where he was but...nothing..." she continued as she couldn't hold
