I stood alone in the rain, my eyes were glued shut but I could still feel the warm embrace of his arms. I know he's gone, he'll never come back. But still I long to feel his presence within me. I let out a deep sigh, breathing out all my guilt. I tilted my chin up to the sky, still leaving my eyes closed. The rain fell harder on my eyelids, causing them to flinch, but still I leave my eyes closed. Until a light flashes across my field of vision. I opened my eyes sharply, as if it was my first time opening them. I gazed up to the bright lamppost staring down at me. His tall build stared down at me with his bright eyes. I stare at him for a moment, blinking every once in a while. But I finally turn to face the cobblestone street, with water running down it's edges. The road winds around a corner you are not able to see. Something about it draws me in and I start wandering over to the mysterious dark path. My footsteps are steady and cautious as I move closer and closer until I reach the bend in the road. I reach out my right hand to cling to the stone wall even though I don't need it. The stone is cold and wet but smooth to the touch. I let my fingers guide me around the corner and I stop in the dark alleyway. A dead end.....of course, I had a feeling this was nothing special, but then I see something from the corner of my eye. It seems to be a box. I make my way over to the corner and kneel down. I pick up the box which seems to be made out of velvet. I examine the box and realize it's in perfect condition, surprisingly. Who knows how long it has been hidden here. I twist off the lid and find a beautiful ring sitting perfectly in the box. The moonlight reflects off the blue gems and hits the surface of the nearest wall. I move the ring slightly to see the light dance on the walls. I smile for the first time in a while but that feeling goes away once I realize this isn't right. I set the ring down back in it's perfect box and stand up slowly. I stare down at the box. I bite my lip in frustration and quickly grab the box and run off into the night.
